Handheld Lightmeter

The Sekonic L-398A (or any of the earlier models) handheld meter is a pretty easy and fun meter to use. And don't even need batteries.

I actually prefer to use this series than the L-758DR.

Cheers,

+1 for the L-398A as far as fun factor is concerned. Somehow it just feel right with a manual RF or MF. The only grouse is that Sekonic chose to ship its generic neck strap that is just too big for the 398A eyelet.

Interesting to read this thread. I started out with a Gossen Digisix, but sold it because I hated all the extra "features" and it was "battery hungry".

Then I got a VC II meter and a Sekonic L-208 Twinmate, but recently sold my L-208 because the incident readings were too flakey for my liking (not good enough for slide film) and the VCII meter because the dials kept slipping and lets face it, it looks ugly mounted on a rangefinder camera.

Now I have a Sekonic 308S and am much happier. Its still not perfect (really wish it had an aperture priority readout), but I can work around its shortcomings and its much more accurate.

The Sekonic L-398A also looks like a fun meter.
