Sheraton Sanya Resort Foyer
Very nice hotel. Great service, clean rooms and it is where you can see Ms World contestants. I highly recommend it. You wouldn't want to leave. It is probably still the best hotel (and newest) in Sanya. However, there's a new hotel being built, Mangrove, I think. The new hotel is going to be even more grand. 6-star, I heard.

Sheraton Sanya Resort Pools
There are 4 pools altogether, including one that has hot-spring waters. Clean. Doesn't reek of chlorine.

Sheraton Sanya Resort Beach
This is the beach at the back of the resort. Just 50m from the hotel building. The waters are crystal clear and the sand is really white.

The National Resort Golf Course in the morning

This is the view from the hotel suite I was staying in. Rolling hills are in front, and the sea at the back. Beautiful. But food is a problem if you want to go cheap.

At Marriot next door, there's a great restaurant which has good food at Singapore coffeeshop "Zi char" prices. Sheraton's food is really expensive, and a 10 yuan (negotiable) taxi rate will bring you to the heart of Sanya city in 15 minutes. There, food is cheaper.

Yalong Wan Bay
View from stretch of pristine beach between Mariott and Sheraton Resort. It's probably the cleanest beach in Hainan Island. There are many rich Chinese from the north who love to sunbath. There's also surfing avaliable. However, I'm afraid it might become polluted in the future, as more tourists descend there.

Hainan Island is a great place to visit, in my opinion. Cheaper than Hawaii, yet as beautiful.

Furthermore, during Qing Ming and CNY periods, there are direct flights there. However, during normal periods, you'll have to go to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport or Hong Kong before taking domestic to Haikou Meilan or Sanya.

Nope. Haikou looks like Shenzhen. But it has room for improvement. Nowhere near. There's a property slump right now. Too many houses, too few people to buy.

And very smelly. The cars have awful exhaust fumes, unlike in Singapore.

But in the rural areas, the air is super-fresh.

the weather at the Nan san si is FREAKING HOT ! almost melted there..
close 1 eye got 1/4000s speed at f8 ASA400

last trip there was 5 yrs ago liao..also went to the tian ya hai jiao(end of the world) beach..find it damn "un-smart" move..whole beach full of childrens hawking sea shells pestering u all the way!

Count me in.......my grandpa from 'Boon Sioh' :bsmilie:

Haha... me too. From Qiong Hai, near Jia Ji Town too (same as X Ray).

Been back there several times, once during CNY (went frenzy over the fireworks and firecrackers).

"Volunteer" to give dialet tuition if anyone keen, haha...

Yes Qiong Hai is famous for the Jia Ji Duck, whereas Wen Chang is renowned for the chicken.

Qiong Hai is also known for its Wan Quan River (cos it's in one of Chinese "love-country" song) and finally the Red Lady Guards - Hong She Niang Zi Army.
