actually u can just about get by without flossing if u use listerine every day b4 brushing, and brush thoroughly (not too hard) with a SOFT toothbrush, especially the hard-to-reach places between the gums and the innermost molars.

important thing is to visit the dentist twice a year. they'll appreciate a stable income if everyone does that.... ;p

jokes aside, buta i tink what my dentist told me is reasonable, that a lot of pple tot that if there's nothing wrong with their set of pearlies, there's no need to waste unnecessary $$$ to go for regular checkup. teeth is like car, must also go for regular servicing to keep in good shape.....

i do visit twice a year. very very faithfully. never missed a single visit for the past few years. one year ago, my dentist already warned me about receding gumlines. i got freaked out when he told me "GUMS NEVER GROW BACK.":bigeyes:

i went home and brushed faithfully
Zaren: i even used listerine for a few months.
but thereafter, i read an article online that said listerine is actually not veyr effective. it works only minimally and can result in overwhelmed tastebuds.
then i started flossing and the rest is history

anyone here uses an ultra-tiny little toothbrush to brush in between the teeth?

I use them because I've braces on. They are called interdental toothbrushes.

my dad uses it. not cheap though. quite ex.

and yes i drink 2 glasses of water before beditme. now i floss then brush then check my gums in the mirror. now very kiasee. haha :bsmilie:

Also, one more thing - get a good tube of toothpaste - not Colgate or Darkie - the type recommended by Dentist and sold only in Pharmacies - one of the thing that cured my bleeding gums.

wahhh... i better start flossing, have bleeding and red gums for a few months already.. and realised that my gumline is RECEDING

does elgydium really help? Just started using, don't see much effect so far

i think its not raelly an overnight thingy. i havent used elgydium before so i raelly dont know. but right now, im just flossing and brushing regularly and ti seesm to be working wonders.

oh i forgot one more thing, filofari. my dentist also warned me not to use medium or hard toothbrushes. to quote him, "such (medium, hard) toothbrushes cause gum TRAUMA. you can also cause gum trauma if you use a soft toothbrush and brush too hard."

remember, only the bristles clean your teeth. so no point forcing down the toothbrush. hard does not = clean. brush gently on the gums and teeth in a circular motion.

Hmm.... Flossing. I'm not very sure abt it since I dun really floss regularly. But the last time I did it, I swear dat my gums bled. And when the string is in, its like, eee-ouch-ooo... thing.

These days, I juz brush longer den usual.

mao zedong used to gargle his mouth wiht tea leaves in water. i read his biography by his personal physician. accoridng to the physician, mao zedong's gums had PUS coming out of them as a result of simply gargling wiht tea.:think: :think:

It is a French toothpaste called Parogencyl - actually, it is a French pharmaceutical formulation, used to be made in France, but now, made in Thailand as a result of globalisation to keep the price affordable. So far, me find it just as good lah, like for French kiss. :bsmilie:
