Posted these a few weeks back but in the wrong forum.... maybe that's why there was no response. Thought I'll try again here.

Really beautiful! Well done! It's so nice!
My friend's parents just got back from Guilin a few weeks ago, saw some pictures, but yours... make it look nicer! :D

Oooh lovely! =)

Very nicely exposed and composed.

Nice and vibrant colours in the night.
Do they light up every night or only on special occasion?
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for viewing.
I was there a few weeks ago also during the last week of April. Not very good timimg for photography though due to the rainy weather and overcast skies at this time of the year. :(

They light up many of the buildings around the lakes in the city park at Guilin every night for the tourists and Guilin Nightscenes have now become an optional tour item on the itinerary on many group tours. :)

Lovely place... so colorful...

I see. Thanks for sharing the info.
Just one more quick question. Did you follow a tour group or plan for your own tour?
Thanks In Advance.

Hi,

Your night pictures are really sharp. They are really beautiful.
Mine sharing how you do it?
and also your settings in the pictures.

I went on a group tour with friends to get the best value for money. If you are planning to go on a group tour to Guilin, I would suggest that you pick one with itinerary centering mainly around Guilin and Yangshou. Unlike group tour packages to other parts of China, all other cities and towns in many Guilin group tour packages have no scenic attractions worth seeing to speak off and a lot of time would be wasted just travelling to these places and seeing nothing special.... just like on my tour package. :(

Thanks... I was lucky as this was the first time I tried night photography during my holiday trip and succeeded in getting any keepers.

The settings for the 3 images are:
#1 1s, f/5.0, ISO 100 using Leica 14-50mm kit lens
#2 1/6s, f/2.8, ISO 100 using Sigma 105mm EX Macro lens
#3 2s, f/9.0, ISO 100 using Leica 14-50mm kit lens
All shot at Aperture Priority mode

I actually learn from this trip that to get the best night pics, I would need to use:
(a) the lowest ISO speed
(b) a tripod
(c) the sharpest lens available
(d) small apertures ie large f/nos. I was lucky with Image #2 even though the aperture was fully opened (I was careless and didn't check before shooting) because that lens was so bloody sharp. :)

this is simply BEAUTIFUL! will be great to do a 360 pano there! thanks for sharing!!!

Loved the last pic

That was a good shot, it looks like yours was pretty sharp as compared to one shot I've taken the same at Guilin, Ronghu. Not sure if it has anything to do with exposure or filter thing, or is it I've selected chrome instead of normal for my fuji6500fd.

nice photos, i personally perfer over exposed night pics.
it would also be better to push the aperture lower to something like f16 to get star burst effort for the pic#1
i like pic#3 the best

thanks for sharing

just my 1/2 cents
