riding on.. does using a good lens vs normal consumer lens affects the noise also?

assuming same F stops & lighting conditions..?

Ee chit... ok raw...

Moving on, perhaps someone can post a comparsion of the various pictures from the various DSLRs on their highest ISO setting? Then make a vote to guess which belongs to which and disclose the answer again in end Aug? :bsmilie:

I will choose to disclose end of 2007 :bsmilie:

No lah... actually it is obvious it is iso6400 :bsmilie: And I got to agree.. putting iso1600, 3200, 6400 side by side, you probably can't differentiate their noise by looking at them!

CANON noise control is very good.. even 30D @ iso 3200 photos also look great. =D

Since we can get such clean shots at 6400, which is a 6-stop advantage from ISO 100, do we still need image stabilization for general photography?

A resounding Yes!!!!!! Only when iso 6400 start looking like iso 100 will the powers of IS have no effect on me....

edit: sentence should read: .....the powers of IS have 'less' effect on me....

Yes, but even 1600 already gives a 4-stop advantage. The 2nd generation IS are only good for 3-4 stops.

No matter how good noise control... still cannot compare with iso100 clean image. So IS will help to fulfill that desire

Haha. And tripod will achieve more. And cheaper. :p

TS is a 1D guy. So i vote 6400. He has to prove me wrong. Ha Ha.

Maybe I should put pix of ISO 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 and 6400, side by side to compare......
