I'm not a fan of the parallelogram design for the following reason:
Can't do tilt-down safely without mounting second head on the top of the jib
Can't tilt up when the jib is below eye level.
Need a stepladder if you operate the video head on the camera end
Can cause injury to your hand if it gets caught between the two poles of the parallelogram. (at least it happened to me!)
Many of variations of these parallelogram jibs have no hole for anti-twist pin of your tripod baseplate.
I prefer pulley jibs such as the fotocrane for these benefits:
Can be operated from the counterweight end of the jib
can simultaneously tilt the camera using just the tripod head when executing a jib raise
tilt of the camera is independent of the height of the jib

Disadvantage is since there are pulley axles going through the pole, pulley jibs tend not to be telescopic which is harder to keep.
But I've a DIY workaround. (see below)
