Got my PrimeFilm XE! But I've already encountered a problem

Scan-140801-0008 by White Fields, on Flickr

The 'white empty space' under the image is actually part of the image, so I believe the scanner didn't scan part of the film?

At times I will get scan results like this. I'm not sure if this is the hardware issue or the software issue. I'm pretty sure I have placed the negatives properly and they doesn't seem to wobble nor does it feel flimsy.

I'm not sure what other information do I need to provide, I do hope you guys who are experienced in scanning may point me in the right direction.

Hmm... strange problem. From what I gather, it has something to do with the VueScan software. Vuescan will only scan as high as the hardware's optical resolution.

Some info directly from Ed Hamrick:
"The CCD of this scanner only supports 5000 dpi, but the stepper motor supports 10000 dpi. This is why the stretching when more than 5000 dpi – the CCD is limited to 5000 dpi."

Try scanning the same frame with 5000dpi and see if you still get the same problem.
