I'm thinkin of digitising my past photos.. how far back in history depends on the cost.

But most of the shops I asked scans @ 1024x768, anyone knows any shop that scans @ 1600x1200? Also how is the charge like?

resolution at 1200x1800 dpi (4R size). The scanning resolution will depend on the size u are printing.

Which are the shops that scan at 1024x768?

All fuji outlets with frontier machines offer 1800x1200 minimum.

So the pic recorded in the CD will have 1800x1200 pixel?

K. no problem

per roll scanning is $5.00

thanks

So the shops really scan at 1024X768. That would give a 4:3 ratio. If you require a scan at 1600x1200, you would lose some parts of your pictures.

Maybe I am wrong, do correct me.

Hi there,

I can scanned ur (35mm) negatives at a higher resolution (1800 x 1800 dpi). I can scan and save as jpeg or tiff. For tiff format each image is about 18 to 22Mb depending on the picture.

If you need to see some samples from my scanners u can goto:

I can give you a better price as compared to any other shops.

You can e-mail me at wilkenn@pacific.net.sg for further details.

:)

I prefer 3:2 ratio, same as 4R. You lose a bit at the sides, but not much.

I think 1024x768 is too small. IMO, no point scanning at such low dimensions, can at most print up to 4R, I guess. I normally scan at 2100x1400 at least.

End of the day it's really what price vs what quality you are prepared to trade-off. I use exclusively FDI outlets now (no I am NOT some Fuji saleman), and they can scan at 4R, 8R, 10R quality. I think that's what I overheard them talking about. And from what I saw of their 10R scan... it is darn the best you can probably find.

Where previously I used a Kodak lab (somewhere out in the far west...) I thought their scans were good. But Frontier beats them all!
:p

THe best way is try up the scanning for a roll of film & see the quality. :)
