"Digital Imaging Specialist and author Vincent Bockaert will cover the Digital Photography Workshop following the three steps of his upcoming book "The 123 of Digital Imaging". In the First Step (creating Input) Vincent will explain the advantages of digital over conventional photography. He will also point out the differences between conventional and digital cameras, between digital Compacts and digital SLR's, and between current and upcoming image sensors, including the new Foveon sensor. Finally, he will provide guidance as to how you should decide which digital camera is best for your individual needs.
During the Second Step manipulating your images) he will enlighten you on the amazing possibilities of the "digital darkroom". After explaining how to evaluate images based on their histogram, he will demonstrate several exciting techniques such as the removal of tourists from pictures, increasing the dynamic range, creating panoramas, color enhancements, etc using Adobe Photoshop 7.
In the Third Step (output), he will explain how to view, share, and print your images and how to optimize them for various purposes (web, monitor, print, etc)using different image formats and hardware. Finally, he will comment on images from the audience and demonstrate live how to improve them."

The workshops will be held at NUS lecture theatre 10, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences1pm to late afternoon. There will be a critique and sharing session with the speaker at the end of the workshop where you are encouraged to bring along your photos. The photos can be in print or digital form. For those who wish to have detailed comments on the photos by the speaker, you can submit your photos and any questions you want to ask the speakers to us before the day of the respective workshop. Refreshments will be provided during the workshops.
