VRII?!?! Woah! Expensive!! No more sub $200. They should put VRII in the f/1.4 version.

:nono: It would only be worth it if they came up with a AF-S 50mm f/1.2G IF ED VRII

Best to leave the f/1.4 and f/1.8 untouched for regular users.

If f/1.2, then dun need VR already. :bsmilie:

Wishlist -> AF-S 50mm f/1.2 IF ED NCC

Imagine superfast focusing, because of the large maximum aperture, in extreme low-light conditions and still being able to shoot at a smaller aperture setting to maximise DOF, at lower shutter speeds and still getting sharp photos without a tripod, because of the VR.

Why stop at 1.2? Why not AFS-ED 50mm f1.0 VRII NCC?

The diameter of the front element will be as big as an elephant's face! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

The AF 50mm f1.8 non D version is discontinued. The present 50mm D version is still being produced.

Phew! I thought what Nikon was up to.

I swear I saw the AF 50mm f/1.8D in the discontinued list. I even checked the current Af normal lens to see that it is not there. I guess it was some confusion with those Nikon guys.

:dunno:

:dunno:

the AF50/f1.8D is on the discontinued list.

AF50 f1.8 is long discontinued, superceded by the D version many years ago.

:dunno: confusion.

Nikon shud clear this up. :bsmilie:

most prob its not discontinued, again!

:bsmilie:

Then cannot do reverse mount to become macro lens liao. :(
Between buying a reverse macro ring (lower profits) vs buying a true macro lens (high profits), well it doesn't take one to understand the logic behind some business decisions. :)

Let's stop this debate as to whether the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D has been discontinued or not. It's certainly making many of us, especially the newbies out there, confused. Let's just wait for the Nikon people up there to clarify this matter.

To those, who still intend to purchase the above-mentioned lens, I believe a few sets are presently on offer in B&S. Otherwise, one can always purchase a brand new set at any of the camera shops, most frequented by CSers.

i think it is discontinued.

wait, i think it isn't.

confusing? if it bothers u so, then petition NIKON to clear this up instead of waiting for Nikon to realise their folly, no?
