Hi there,

I've just started diving- dived at Sipadan and Dayang. And I'm thinking of getting a good underwater camera for myself.

Simple, small, easy to use and comes with a good underwater housing is my prerequisite.

I've been recommended the Fuji F50 by mscolor in AMK. Any comments?

Canon A650 IS or Canon G9.

i just want to say unless the salesman is a user of underwater cam himself, i wouldn't take any recommendation from them.

I realised there's quite a no. of people who mentioned getting Fuji F50.. I'll still prefer the A640 for its 1cm macro range plus a lot of people are using it too :D

Yeah I agree. The sales people will usually give the best story to sell their products. Its not in their (short term) interests to be objective. Economical with the truth... lol.

I've been reading the reviews - I just want something relatively easy to use for now. Once I spent more time diving I might consider getting a better camera. But my budget is around $1000.

I have been a user of Canon and I really liked it. I have used Ixus V2, A95 and G7 with their respectively underwater casings and they all worked great. Best of all is that the camera casings are all the same price and have only 1 O-ring to maintain (only one single point of leakage to worry about).

If you are a macro photographer, IS is a must because no matter how hard you try to steady yourself, there will still be slight movements in the when you are in the water.

I also used a simple pns camera panasonic FX30 cos of the wide angle with panasonic housing but have not bring the camera into the water yet. ;p

Understand from MS, Fuji F50 underwater housing NOT available in the market yet.
FX30 housing need to order, many shop don't carry housing.
Bought Fuji F40fd with housing from MS @S$700, don't know how it perform underwater, will try out this week.:)

Someone told me the F50 uses the same housing as the f40. Dont know if true. I, too am shopping around for a good P&S with u/w housing. Trying to decide between Fuji f50 and Canon IXUS860IS. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

MScolor has the F50 with underwater case + the usual freebies for $549+249. I made a cold call just then to the shop.

But I'm waiting for my friend who has a F31 with uw housing- he's got a source that has a spare but still checking.

Looking for a Sony T100 casing.
Any CSers using it?
Any idea what's the price?
Thanks!
