Good Service At MS Colour

When a store does something bad, the mob moves in and hurl stones. So to be positive amidst the service complaints, I like to share a recent good experience with MS Colour.

Bought a lens and after a few days discovered its focusing will get stuck at the infinity or close focusing end. And the lens also makes a grinding sound. The problem isn't consistent, and happens intermittently. But I was certainly upset that my brand new lens is a lemon and thoughts of bringing a fresh lens to NSC for open surgery and possibly having it out of action for a few weeks, I was even more sian. I certainly did not expect such QC with expensive Nikon lenses.

So I thought I discuss this with Florence before making the dreaded trip to NSC. And Florence happily changed it for me! Without hassles or me needing to do much explanation.

I imagine the situation will be very much different if this is one of 'those' shops at Lucky Plaza or Sim Lim Square. I probably might end up feeling even more upset when they pull their black faces.

This is not a plug for MSC; I have been their customer as much as I had been their competitors' customer, often shop more at Funan/PP area for convenience, but its just that I feel very happy about the experience and feel obliged to share it for their good work done. :)

I heard good comments on MS color services. However, I bought most of my staff from CP@Peninsular as their services (usually look for Kelvin) are good too and most important CP usually carries more stock and allow customers to test before buying. Ofcourse pay abit more then other shops. Will try drop by MS color one of these days to take a look.

My last 2 lenses was purchased from MS Color, Nikon 35mm 1.8DX last month and Olympus Zuiko 11-22mm in Nov 2008.
Both times I dealt with Florence. Agree that she is top notch.

just want to join in to compliment mscolor's good service =) bought my lens there and they were really patient. was served water, smiles, and were patient enough to help to get another copy of the lens i was asking for when the one they had in the branch was lemon.

had similar good experience with MS Color early this year. Bought a Canon 1.4TC and after using it for a few weeks, realise that there were some white spots inside the TC. Brought it down to MS and Mr Loh gave me a 1 to 1 exchange without much hassle. This is what I call great customer service :)

hihi...here to add on to MS Color's excellent service.

just bought my 550d from them 2 weeks ago. Sent out emails for eQuotes, MS first to reply and with one of the more competitive rates as well.
went down and was tended to by Parkson, not sure if he's new there coz dun have namecard. Anyway, one thing i like bout MS is that they make recommendations on products but they don't hard sell. =)

talking about eQuotes from them, the first time I asked for a price, I got a reply very fast. But the second time i emailed them, i didnt get a reply at all:dunno:

wow u get an exchange on the spot, though i was unable to exchange on the spot for a bright spot/dust in the lens i bought from them, and told to send to service centre instead.

I've made 2 purchases from them, a dslr kit and a lens. Its not that they are bad in anyway, but I can't use the word good. Perhaps on a scale of 100, I would give them 50/100.

Nothing fantastic. Prices are competitive but not necessarily the cheapest around. Other retailers in town maybe offering $20-30 cheaper but still worthwhile to get from them if you are staying in the north to save the hassle of transport to and fro plus parking and ERP.

As a consumer, I will still check out the best price before buying. Service by the shop is secondary as warranty is provided by the manufacturer (unless the shop is the sole agent of course). Any problem with the body/lens etc past 7 days, automatically it goes to the respective service centre.

I bought from the branch next to the kopitiam. Perhaps the one at AMK hub is better?

I think its hard to change base on dust in lens since its a normal thing. Maybe mezzoutopia's case was not dust but some kinda fungus thats why he can change?

Hi sjackal,
Thank you for sharing. I will head to MS color to purchase my first DSLR once I have decide which model to get. Moreover, their shops are nearer to Hougang.

Is all good and dandy about the service offered by MS but at the end of the day, are we there for the service or the price of the lenses? Prior to any purchases, do your homework on the available street prices & their exchange policies.:)

NO shop in sg will bother to change 1-1 for dust in the lens. U got to check before you decide to buy. With new lens, sometime there will be dust also. Even when you buy that time without any dust, the dust might get in as long as you start to use it. So if everbody like you start to go for 1-1 exchange within 7 days, the shop no need to do business liao.:bsmilie:

Wow. Good for you. Bought a nex-3 from them and randomly ask that if spoil within few days I bring back can? The guy say no point bring back, bring it to service centre. So I think depend on case ba. Or u more handsome? LOL.

I bought most of my stuff from them as i stay just 5mins away.

Generally i would say depending who you deal with and whether you are a regular customer. If you just call in and check prices, you may get different quotes from different person who answer the call. But normally better price from a few ones who treasure regular customers well like W****e and K***n.

1st email maybe kenna blacklist as nvr buy
maybe meed use diff email add for 2nd quote
