Good places for seafood in Johor? (not JB)

Hi anyone knows of nice places to eat, and how to get there, we are not talking about those within the city of JB, there is way too much crime there.

A few years ago, I remember friends taking me to a place where you can see the coastline of Singapore on the other side, any ideas?

Kukup is too far.

Cheers

Tried 2 of those very-off-the-beaten-track seafood places in JB, located along the coast facing Singapore.

The better one (I feel) is Restaurant Asli (facing BBC relay station in Singapore)

http://j-travel.blogspot.com/2008/05/dinner-at-restaurant-asli-taman-perling.html

My gf and I ordered 2 black pepper crab, 1 steam garoupa (HK steam), cereal prawns and dou mian (vege) all for slightly less than RM100..

The other place is Restaurant Todak (Facing Sembawang shipyard)

http://www.limsimi.com/johor-bahru-food/seafood-at-taman-mega-ria-johor-bahru/

For roughly the same kind of food, it cost about RM110..

For both places, took us 1 hour to drive from custom.. Dinner time so expect a fair bit of traffic.. and getting lost if you're first time there without GPS like me hehe :)

If you go further away, there's one near Desaru call Jade Gardens. Indulge yourself with lots of lobster. Forgot the price already, but it's considered very cheap compare to Singapore.

Hope these help!!

Thanks guys very hungry now... will go the last weekend of the month, pm me if you wish to convoy up too..
Now all I need are instructions to get there...

I remember that I wanted to wade across from SG, it looked so close when I was having dinner...

Cheers

Plenty of seafood restaurants in Johor especially around JB area. So far, only been to Orang Asli, Senibong and one at Sg Rengit. I would rate Orang Asli the best in term of quality and price. I find Senibong a tat too commercial. They employed alot of waiters and quite expensive.

Many seafood restaurants in Sungei Rengit area (after Desaru) in this GPS mapsource installer including the popular Jade Garden, Sin Kong Seafood Restaurant, Restaurant Good Luck and Restaurant Sg Rengit. There are a few others, not listed in this installer, such as Paradise Seafood, You Kee Seafood, Jade Garden Seafood, Beautiful Village Seafood Restaurant but can be found in another GPS map.

How about Tian Tian and it's competitor in Gelang Patah. There's always a crowd from Singapore and you get to see the SG BMW gang there almost every weekend. I'd tried the food there, pretty good. The only thing is they only have local crab. The plus is that you can bring your own seafood and ask them to cook. So if you got a sudden fetish for a 5kg sea bass and you're able to get your hands on one, they'll gladly cook it for you at your specifications. :)

There are a number of seafood restaurants in Gelang Patah but the most popular is still Restoran Tian Lai, a favourite among Singaporeans and Johoreans, which is well known for its crabs. Always packed on weekends with limited roadside parking. I dunno if you are refering to this one but I dun find any restaurant there by the name of Tian Tian.
