Ortega...I really don't need your sarcasm, and since you've said that it should be in the Feedback/FAQ section, I now have learnt to post such feedback here.

Thank you.

Clown: you've been most helpful. Thank you for your assistance in moving the previous thread.

you are welcomed

btw if you made a mistake, be a man and accept the warning
did i hurt your ego?

vince you can thank your friend below for trying to be funny
if i wanted to abuse my authority, i will just have serve infractions instead of warnings

JT-Fied: your organizing a photoshoot in the kopitiam is strictly not allowed.

Ortega, I've informed him and he has removed his post. It's not a matter of being funny. I can understand that being a moderator is no easy task and you do have our gratitude for keeping it neat, tidy and easy to navigate.

However, there will always be people whom are more sensitive than others and thus my first thread on perhaps handling matters with more sensitivity rather than the absolute "I am the law! Judge Dread" method.

Of course there are times when a heavy fist is required but I believe that one should always start by being sensitive first and give the benefit of doubt. Otherwise, you will most likely face more disgruntled members and would probably do more damage control on that end than being able to effectively moderate the forums.

I hope I haven't taken up too much of your time.

Thanks for reading.

i closed a thread by your friend
and he was unhappy about it
i have explained it to him via PM

suddenly your thread comes out and complains about it
since you have decided to bring it out in the open, then i will join you and wash dirty laundry

i am sure that i am not judge dread
as there are a number of threads that are still open in the kopitiam

maybe i shall play the bad mod that you make me out to be
then everyone can thank you for evoking judge dread

just for everyone else

does everyone know where to post if you want to organise or join an outing?

Yes he mentioned it to me and after looking at your relpy in the email, i believe that he perhaps may have read too much into it. I would just leave it as it is but as hotheads go, well, you know what it is like.

But like I mentioned before, is it that much more troublesome to just move the thread as he had taken some pains to start and write it. Having it just deleted like that would mean that he would have to redo the whole thread.

Wouldn't moving it, followed by a reminder (instead of a "warning" - which sounds so...policaman) be a much more friendly approach?

We've all gone thru primary schools and have hated prefects that give "Warnings" all the time...I believe that sometiems, a softer approach may be more effective.

This is my feedback.

Thank you.

yes, Gatherings and Outings Find out where members are meeting in here.

or PhotoShoots Check out the myriad photoshoots coming up and sign up to participate!

photoshoots is a moderated forum and thus i cannot move the thread there as the ts is not an advertiser
the gatherings and outings forum also has posting guidelines, so members who want to post there must read the FAQ and follow the guidelines
thus i also cannot anyhow move thread there

this is to be fair to all the other who have actually taken the time to read and find out more before posting

i hope me position is clear and there are no more unknowns

by the way, kopitiam is "Kopitiam (139 Viewing)
Informal, irreverent coffeeshop chat (with limits, of course)." - The organizing of a shoot such as his would also fall under that category since it is informal and can become coffeeshop chat.

I believe that that's why it's called kopitiam and it does have a tendancy of becoming the junkyard of forum threads (and likely to contain the most number of improperly categorized threads).

maybe you can ask him to forward you his warning
and carefully read it, the warning is a reminder

In any case, lets just live and let live.

If you're available and willing, we can go out for a round of real kopi and talk about what this forum is really about; photography.

that is where you are wrong
the kopitiam is for everything else

image specific threads are not allowed, they belong in the galleries
outings belong in the outings forum

that is why there are sub-forums
it makes this place more organised
why is it that he is so special that he can post anywhere he wants
while everyone else must follow the rules?

btw you have been in CS longer than I
so you do not have an excuse of not knowing

I think this is being blown totally out of proportion. Looking at it this way, I just wanted to organise a simple free shoot for anyone interested and had no other ill intention. All i asked was to why i was served a warning and why my thread was deleted and not moved so since i have that answer then fine. I'll live with it.

:bsmilie:

u seems to have double standards on your own.

not sure if its your own ego or its the double standards or your heart is made of stone.

and as a member who is here longer enough then you, i seriously doubt your ability as a mod to make any judgment to close a thread. And you seriously had a wrong concept of off topic this definition.

please do not crash someone else's thread
start your own

don't comment when you do not know the full story

i may have been here longer than you have, but I do not post in here that often nor do I spend a vast majority of my time here to which I take my hat off to the moderators who spend much of their precious time cleaning up crap here.

I may have overlooked it and yes I should know better and have no good excuse other than I've never noticed the feedback/FAQ sub forum before due to it being buried way down together with the garbage sub-forum.

Thank you for the enlightenment.

i am not talking about other people story now. I am commenting on your words.

"the kopitiam is for everything else" - Refer to the closed thread that you claimed i am Off Topic.

I say, you got double standards. Simple as that.

I am not siding anyone here (even the TS) but simply pointing at your comment as above in bold.

yes i sent you a warning and deleted your thread in all fairness to everyone else
you are welcomed to post in the correct forum :)

i am refering to your case and not the case here
are you feeling guilty now, you cause that thread to close, not me

you decided to call my bluff and found out that i mean what say
