babykailan,
I just got back from Bali last week. I mainly use my wide angle lens (EF17-40 f/4.0) than zoom lens. Oh! Good idea to get C-PL filter as (last week la) the sky was blue and low fluffy clouds. Cud use the filter to bring out the details on the clouds. If you have ND (1 stop will do) filter should be good too as it was sunny and bright during midday.

Also I end up using Ixus 800 IS a lot too! (as it was easy to use and I get wat i want easier...) :)

wow awesome.
i think i will just use my kit lens with cpl lahz. not that pro yet.
asking around here for a good wide-angled lens!

will also bring along my casio compact for those impromptu moments!
thanks man!

oh yes. aware of those @#$@#$ monkeys. a lot of my friends kena there also.

thanks all for your precious insights and tips!

They tried to grab my S2IS also, but it was attached to my 190 Classic which fell onto him. Good thing I had strapped the camera to my hand! :bsmilie:

just to confirm, as i plan to take some silhouette shots. i should aim at the brighter part of the sky (not the sun) to meter the exposure, then half-shutter to recompose the image hor?

babykailan: i'm going to Bali on 3-6oct. If by chance you see this post, can sms me 97823646. I'm going there for work, sad lah seeing ppl go there for vacation. Anyway, i'm still thinking whether to extend my stay until saturday.

Current kit & 50 mm lens is more than enough..
I've been in Bali 3 weeks ago and the atmosphere was wonderful...

Hi all!

I will be going to Bali for the first time next week, any good, economical wide-angled lenses to recommend? I suppose I will be taking more landscape shots and sunsets !!!

My eqpt currently :

1. 300D
2. Kit lens with Hoya CP
3. 50mm f/1.8

Should suffice? I intend to go on a shoe-string budget so a second-hand lens is alright with me. Any advice / techniques? Food? Or places to stay... your experiences will be GREAT too! :)

Me newbie so do bear with me hor. :)
1 lens replace all: EFS 17-85

i lot of posters hace recommended good lenses ! i would recommend to shoot the streets the people and the associated culture, going all the way to bali to shoot sunsets does not sound too productive to me ;-)

Have a safe trip
