Started with film, tried digital and ended back into film again.
To each his own.

Hey, this is neat as only need to invest in a flim cam + manual lens + scanner and this is cheaper that FF dslr. I might consider this option.

Sometimes, I do wish to return to film.
The exposure metering is more accurate on my film camera than the digital ones.
White balance is something I do not have to worry about too
and the DR of film is just better.
Distance & time to develop is negligible.
Yet, the problems of film is that I need to keep the negatives (no space)
or scan them ( have to spend again on a scanner, no thanks ).
The biggest problem is still with high ISOs, I don't have the luxury of always being able to
take pics in bright lightings and getting high speed film is a big problem not to mention the costs.
Changing film of differing ISOs is another prob.
Guess I'll just stay with digital, less problem to me overall though there are sacrifices to be made.

Tell me about it,..the dynax 7 or 9 was my dream camera, actually still is...then is expensive, now ....aiyo ..not cheap also la..but a lot cheaper...congrads on your purchase...I went with the 800si with battery grip. Just got mine 3 weeks ago.
i use both format: digital n film.. digital for commercial purposes. for my pleasure, i use my 4x5 wooden view camera.. nothing beat the pleasure to see the scenerary with 4X5 inch viewfinder.. hehehe.. try one.. u wl understand why we are still love the large format..
ps: i tried one of my friend's ultra large format (film size: 50x60 cm).. the beauty reveals itself .. (however, this beast is not easy to carry around; 32kg, need 1 tripod plus 2 monopod, standard bellow extention around 1,5 m)

Then how large can the image enlarge to? 10x12meters? Or even larger?:sweat:That's really cool man! Seems like focusing will be a problem too?:think:

Film is expensive as the economy of scale is declining..... as more turn to DSLR... including myself....
I still love slide..... simply WOW when looking at it.... so damn cool!!!!
The scanner need to be a drum-scanner in order to scan images on par with nowadays FF DSLR. And the drum-scanner don't come cheap. It's not simple to use too.:think:
I don't think so. A good film scanner (eg Coolscan ED 9000) is good enough. There are many other great levellers, like exposure, camera shake, etc. What digital can't replicate is the dynamic range and colours of film, esp. stuff like Velvia.

do you mind telling how much a d7 worth now? i just bought from ebay usa, but item not arrived yet :sweat: and bought a d5 yesterday instead, cant wait so long for the d7..
btw where is the cheapest place to buy velvia 100 or 50 in sg? how much the velvia prices in sg compared to indonesia, sg or indo cheaper? im going indonesia soon and thinking to bring some rolls of velvia :think:

film is the most beautiful thing. the larger the light sensitivity area is, the longer lens you use to compensate for field of view, less odd looking distortions you'll get mm for mm. and even if there's distortions on film it still looks less irritating.
