from doctor:

to have glucosamine working effectively, there're a few criterias.
1) take more than 1000mg everyday for more than 3 years.
2) body must be healthy enough to absorb and handle the substance
3) doesnt work for everybody and even less for people above 45.

so... i think better take care of your joints the commonsense way. =)

ok, NPNT
just bought a box of Glucosamine pills .... first time taking external supplements.
Hopefully after a month, i can write a good review :bsmilie:

Glucosamine works by replenishing the calcium level in your joints. It works to repair worn out cartilage at the joints.

Doesn have an effect on calcium.

No really strong studies on its usefulness, and positive correlations in reports funded by the pharmas :bsmilie: Anyway often quoted to be more useful in the early stages of wearing of joints.

Cutting back some weight works much better for folks who are not tall enough for their weight.

Due to recent knee injury, i keep hearing and seeing this word from everyone and everywhere.....
Bros here who are taking Glutamine, i would like to know more about this wonder drug :dunno:

Question is - what is your knee injury? Glucosamine may or may not help depending on what your injury is.

Ref: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/kneeinjuries/a/kneepain.htm
And if you play a lot of sport that requires running? See here: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sportsmedicine/a/runninginjury.htm

Many seem to complain about knee injuries due to a tight ITB which a sports massage will sort out!

Good luck

Actually, what is glutamine (not glucosamine) for? Would it help very skinny people at all? Or is really just for fat loss/ muscle building?

For skinny people, you need a high-calorie, high-protein diet combined with exercise. Glutamine is just one of the many protein supplements bodybuilders will take. It will help you feel less sore, and reduce the amount of muscles your body itself will destroy after exercise.

Remember... If you exercise and don't have protein right afterwards, your body will break down muscle.
