But hor dunno who hor, always mention Canon leh.

Hiya forbytes, nice to see you after so many months. Of course I'll use the 7D with ease like a fish is when it's in the water. Lens is my main headache now...need lens that is 20-35 after the crop factor and must be able to go close to the subject...Tried the canon 17-35 f 4L and it's able to go 0.23 m...I like this kind of lens...

What about the Minolta 17-35mm? Or the Tamron/Minolta 11-18mm... should be in the right ballpark, no?

friend, KM 17-35/2.8-4 is abt 0.3m also mah. BTW are you talking about Canon 17-40 or 16-35?

minolta 28mm f/2.8 is 25cm i think. sigma 20mm f/1.8 is 20cm

Maybe these questions can help you decide....

1. Do u have existing minolta equipment that can be reused?
2. What is the cost of switching over to C or N? Willing to bite the bullet and jump?
3. What are you looking for when switching over?
4. Does jumping satisfy your current needs and also future needs?

For me, I continue with Minolta, cos I already have a decent range of lenses and I can wait for the snail pace of Minolta to come up with newer stuff :bsmilie:

he have nothing at the moment, that's why he is undecided with KM or C. But talking about minimum focusing length, KM seems to be better. look at the widely used 80-200 lens. KM can hit 1.2m compared with 1.8m for C or N.

Vader is the one that teach me the importance of short focus distance. Some benefit would be the shallow depth of view and restriction of distance between photographer and subject. magnification would usually also increase as a result of the shorter focus distance.

If you are getting 3rd party lens for the reason of short focus distance, you do not need to consider whether KM or C or N as 3rd party manufacture lens for the different brands. vader, your ex 20-35 lens is actually very powerful. fast and quite also. but of coz with view factor 1.5, it does not meet your requirement.

lol...use to have the Dynax 7, Dynax 9, 24-50 f4, 16 f2.8 fisheye and 70-210 f4 as my tool...but then that is the past...hahaha...24-50 f4 rated as the lens mostly on my cameras...bout 95%...someone wanna sell me a 2nd hand 20D now...

With wide angle lens that is able to go close means that there is much depth to play with and many difference perspectives to explore...well...I like pics to portray depth and that factor is also important when I do judge pics...

Maybe I should just go back to old kumpung and retire...I'm crazy now...
