GIMP vs Photoshop vs Lightroom Poll Version 2!

faststone - abandoned it after i batch converted some important pics. the color actually turned abit duller after i closely observed pics side by side, even when i set to 100% quality, just resizing alone.

I'm a Photoshop user. tried Gimp. I can't see anyone becoming limited by it as ZerocoolAstra said he may do if he were a pro, but the interface is terrible and that's why a pro wouldn't use it. Too many floating windows and pallettes for me. very untidy.

I'm using Photoshop CS3 for the normal edits, and Fastone for the quickie edits and image manipulations. The latter is an amazing program.

I got a Capture NS2 free recently with a new camera body.

While really made for photographers as opposed to designers, it is intuitive to use (gone the masks, the layers, etc) and allow to easily apply localized enhancement by just clicking on the image and moving sliders.

Downside is that it does not allow to create frames around pictures or add text.

A great soft though. It has an automatic lens correction feature for vignette, color aberration, etc.

used gimp for about a year before i got my mac w/ Photoshop... no complains. excellent program. after i switched to photoshop (just because it was already preloaded on my mac..) i actually found it harder to get used to because it had all the funny fancy names, and GIMP was so straightforward as compared to it. :bsmilie: if i'm not wrong, gimp cannot process raw tho. please clarify? i tried it once.

my friend showed me lightroom, looks ok, but i've only used it once.

LR2 for me because it is excellent for batch processing of RAW files. I dump the images to PS if I need to do any other adjustment that LR2 doesn't have. Most time, LR2 is more than sufficient for my use.
