[Ghaz1] Very Basic Photography Series #1 - Bedok Reservoir Shoot (Photo)

Oh no my bad to post such a tilted picture

I have been trying very hard to straigten it , but somehow it just look tilted.
Will try to shoot with wider angle next time :)

Any other bros with station 2 picture??

Don't worry too much about it ;)
Anyway if you try 1 degree CCW, it might work :p

Hi All, I counted and actually took 17 shots of the hut and did not post because of the horizon and the tilted hut. So actually is the hut that is sitting on uneven ground. That is why I did not post.

Hi Yilin, this is the hut and I have straighten the horizon. Cannot do anything to the tiled hut because is sitting on uneven ground. You can see the ground very clearly.:)

I thought you were using the spirit leveller?

Problem solved after successfully linking back to Photobucket.

Photobucket pics will come out a bit not too sharp. What were you using before?

Nice framing, but i think with such a wonderful sky, it would be a shame to hide it. ;)
That's what I tot so too.
I think the version without the branches is better.

I also like the Taichi Master. If only those people on the right weren't there, it would be perfect! I like the way you included the tree to frame the man.
I can erase them with photoshop, but then it will be cheating, hee hee ;p
Noted, next time must be more carefull with the framing. Actually if I move a little more to the right I can exclude those ppl, but I didn't really pay attention then.

Btw, I want to ask you, why do we need to turn off the IS?

This uncle is definitely our favorite model, everybody took his picture and all in the same pose also :p

Haha. I like yours the best at the moment coz with the wide angle... somehow the huge scenery, trees and placement of taichi model, just comes together nicely. But still waiting to see if anyone can up that! ;p

Hi Uncle Wildcat,
Yes I use the spirit level and this will help to level the horizon but not the hut because on that day, I know the hut is tilting when I see with my own eyes and I took 17 shots. Maybe you can go back there and check again. Not perfect for the horizon and so I did a little more adjustment in photoshop. :):)

Have to go sleep now. Goodnight....

I think you didn't get my point. If you're using spirit leveller (and it's one that's levelled), then you already don't have to worry about whether the hut is tilted or not, coz you would have had a horizontally-corrected pic.

To add on, I believe you were using only one of the bubble (levelling it horizontally), which means you could still get some keystone effect from your pic. The second bubble if aligned, would have cut off most of your sky, and you would have had to crop off a lot of extra grass at the bottom ;) and the horizon would be at the centre of the pic.

At 1/4000sec shutter speed, it better be :bsmilie:
but aperture was f/2.5 so background was ermm.. intentionally blurred.

Thanks, Wildcat!
Funny how you mention that the wide angle lens help me to create a nicer image.
I've been cursing this lens on and on coz I need to do a lot of correction on the perspective distortion.
Probably I need to learn how to use this lens more properly :D

wow. I learnt something today. For me I can't be bothered by so many rules. I just shoot :D. Excellent pics everyone

Will this be better ?

This one is better than the previous one, but I think this photo happen to have a tricky constrain.
Since we're all agree that the ground is uneven, then if you make the horizon straight, the hut will be tilted n vice versa

Aside of the horizon issue, I think this photo is nicely exposed because we can see the details of the roof tile and the sky is not burned out.
