GF1 or LX3

ermm u wan to explain wat is bokeh?:)
I think for photography, we shldnt be restricted by all this "bokeh"...or shoot for "bokeh effect"...
its a long debate on this word...so leaving it aside, i still feel a good photography comes with good composition, exposure, dof and the subject..

LOL ! ...if it isn't bokeh, don't fix it ! :bsmilie:

...sorry, couldn't resist the corny joke.

i own a gf1 and i used lx3 before , if your primary is to make your background blur , object clear , gf1 with the 20MM pan cake lens is very very easy to achieve it . as for lx3 , you need to know the setting a bit as all the brothers and sisters mentioned ..

if budget is a matter for you , then take lx3 , it is a good cam ,

if size is a matter for you , then take S90 , take clear pictures but the blur effect that you wanted is not easy to achieve .

if die die want the blur effect , you can go for the gf1.

if you want something in between the price of gf1 and lx3, size and function , maybe Olympus pen can do it as well .

PS: when you can do blur effect by using gf1 , you will be wondering how to not make it blur yet the shot still steady ( because Auto mode tends to go to f1.7 in most situation ..)

opss , you already bought the pen , it would be a good cam for you , happy shooting

It's an attractive toy...snoppy... just go get it~~~

Snoopy still thinking... cost no money to buy toys. :bsmilie: This month's money need to save up for either the iPhone 4 or the HTC Desire.

now im stuck between GF1 and EPL1 too! haha. personally own a LX3 but wanna explore to get another camera...

:p thanks KG..so funny u realise it later that i bought a Pen...still loving it though have not played with it since sat...
snoopy...get galaxy... i got this phone n looooooooooooooves it ..iphone 4 might be full of bugs now .... wait longer lah...
candle..GF1 is like 300 to 400 more than EPL1 ... if that's not much of a concern for u then get GF1 coz i like the look and feel more n also it's in pink :p

For me , i feel that ,

lx3 is a good hand gun for shooting
Gf1 is a fast machine gun to shoot . it is so fast that make you just keep on shooting and shooting . haha

Each cam has pro and con , before purchase , if can try to loan or borrow to try it out first before purchase instead just do a few test shots on the sale counter . especially those cam come with the kits lens , you might have different feelings when you use it ..

But dont get down once you think that you purchased a wrong one , instead try to master it and make your shot better by experience and technique and cover the weakness of the cam by yourself ..

hehe , just my two cents :-)

:) i really like it when u put down this remark : But dont get down once you think that you purchased a wrong one , instead try to master it and make your shot better by experience and technique and cover the weakness of the cam by yourself ..

That's so true.. we can also think about selling away the wrong product n get the one we love more but maybe who knows ... in the end we're still not satisfied (or maybe just me) :p

Hi , so far how is your user experience of your pen ??
Sounded like you like it very much , anything that you dislike about the cam , or anything you like it very much ??

ermmm actually i can't tell as much now ... since i only used it once on Sat... no time for it as yet ...
like about it .. quite a number of things... dislike is the body not as beautiful as GF1 .... the 'snap' portion snaps too fast...i have not even properly focus on the photo and snap.. but maybe i've to learn how to use it ... other than that... haven't find any fault yet..

Light tapping to focus and snap is actually a feature rather then a problem. This is so that you can "roll your finger" to focus and snap, and it is present in all DSLRs. You're not used to it probably becuase you just upgraded from P&S. :)

Actually i agree that every camera has its pros and cons. Just like everybody says that LX3 is a gd cam and that i shld keep it, but i just dun like the photos that come out. Not the kind that i wan... so probably tts why im exploring more at GF1 with the 20mm pancake lens and also either the EPL1 as they have the art filters thingy...

You are on the right track. The LX3 is very good as a compact but it is not a m43 nor a DSLR. A m43 system will complement your LX3 with better photo quality, more lenses, etc, but less compact while like a DSLR would complement a m43 or a compact. Different cameras and systems fulfill different needs.

hmmm ic ic ... so it's normal and not a problem of cam :p
need to try it more to learn it then

haha yes, it depends on what kind of effect u are looking for. some point and shoot can let u look good, but do u wan to cover ur flaws? haha or see the clearer shot of you? so it depends and also depends on what you shoot often....
