From what I am aware of in general, electronics cost alot more in Australia than Singapore.

from personal experience camera stuff is costly, for example, a relatively good condition used FE2 was going for A$700 in melbourne while a mint condition may be had for about $400 here. I suspect the new stuff might just as well be more dearer.

Gear in Australia is 50-100% more expensive than in Singapore.

For those of you coming here to study here are some ballpark figures:

Nikon F5 - $5,500-6,000 AUD
Nikon 80-200/2.8 AFs - $3500-4100 AUD
Nikon D1x - $12,600 AUD

Note these are pro shop prices you can save 10% from a non pro-shop.

Film prices are pretty much the same Australia wide:

Fuji/Kodak 100 ISO print film (C41): $7-10 per 36 exposure roll.

3 x 24 pack Fuji Superia 100 - $9-$13
3 x 24 pack Fuji Superia 400 - $10-$14
1 x Fuji Velvia - $18-$20 per roll
Kodak E100S - $17-$19 per roll
B/W film: $6-$14 per roll depending on ISO and brand.

Processing:

Elcrapo (Chemists etc)
$7-$10 per C41 roll including prints for 24/36 exp.

Minilab (1hr variety)
C41 process only: $5-$7 for 24 exp $6-$8 for 36 exp.
$10-$14 per 24 exp roll for D&P (4x6 prints)
$12-17 per 36 exp roll for D&P (4x6 prints)
E6 - sent to bucket lab from most minilabs cost varies.

Prolab:
C41 Dev only: $5-$7 per roll 24 or 36 exp
E6 dev only $8-$12 per roll
E6 mounting: cardboard 25-50c per slide, glass $2-$3 per slide
E6 dev/mount (cardboard) around $19-$20 per roll.

Everyone pretty much summed it up..its much more ex down under..new photographic equipment prices is usu 30 percent and upwards more than in S'pore... second hand stuff is reasonable enough though..in fact maybe even more reasonable than in S'pore...look around for shops that have second hand equipment, but beare, items for popular models go quite fast, cos i had a lot of trouble looking for second hand EOS lenses ...

I have had good luck mail-ordering from used retailers in NZ as besides enjoying the conversion rate, the local GST does not apply. As a rule, take 0.89 x list-price on site.

Add shipping.

However, most stuff in NZ seems to be in worser condition than stuff you find in Aus.

well visited a few camera shops- Micheals, Camera Exchange, Photobe, CameraLane along Lonsdale St and Elizabeth st

L lenses are really ex even 2ndhand or they called it Pre-owned, hehe

this's what i recalled
