Getting 2nd Lens

I am interested in micro shot. Like taking photo of insect. What kind of lens should I be looking out for. Budget type please. BTW, I am using Nikon D5000 so do I need af-s lens for micro?

Yes, you need AF-S for the D5000 unless you don't mind manual focussing. If you are into manual focussing the older lenses are also compatible.

Look for the micro lenses from Nikon. They come in 60mm, 105mm and (i think) 180mm. They cost between 700sgd and 2000sgd with the longer focals becoming more expensive. The longer focals let you take the shots from longer distances without spooking the insects. Personally I would suggest that you try using the 18-55mm kit lens first. It is an amazing lens for its price with ~20cm closest focal distance.

get a general purpose lens to feel what focal length you work with most, slowly progress to prime then

Thank you. In that case, I can use my 18-105 mm lens to take macro before considering upgrade?

A Tokina 12-24mm

Ultra wide to cover wide view landscapes, 'normal' enough on APS-C to do streets (typically subject in context to environment type shots).

Shorter focal length zooms like a 10-20mm will usually still be a bit short for general walk around use.
