Here are 3 shots taken to test the BF
Focus is on the # 2,8 and "hold".
Can someone tell me which photo of mine is focusing on which nos.
then is am sure no BF. thanks

I see it as 2/hold/8.

anyway, some of the backfocussing issues might be due to a lack of knowledge of depth of field (think there's a thread somewhere which 'backfocus' is simply lack of dof), as I personally find it hard to believe Nikon would ship a camera with such a pervasive problem.

Did a lot of testing with the charts and all.....there is indeed backfocussing of about 1cm....but noticed that it is only on the kit lens...

On my other 2 AF-D zooms....focus is right on....

What is going on....? Should I be calibrating the kit lens instead....? :dunno:

That is bad news. Inexplicable BF is indeed worrying. You won't know when the BF problem will pop up.
BAD

So what do you suggest i do....? cause i did many tests already and its quite certain that its the kit lens when used that causes the backfocus......

Just get your kit lens calibrated if you think there is a problem. There's nothing to worry about or fret over. Quite simple really.

Just ,yes it is 2/hold/8
Indeed, I dont feel like going for calibration. Electronic good when calibrated sometimes can create other problems. Really hope Nikon can do some kind of 1 to 1 exchange should there be a real BF PROBLEM.
The Nikon serv center is so remote ..... maybe they should send a team of service man to the town area and provide free calibration on the spot.

Dont think they will do a one to one exchange....i got my set like 2 months back already.......although i dont really feel good having a supposedly new kit lens being dismantled and all that....

I think so too. Nikon actually owe customers a favor and answers too.
Wonder the CS Nikon council could help in making some kind of NIKON'S servicing near the town area. or bulk services. :dunno:

why? :dunno: Redhill is very near for me :bsmilie: :D

Wah lao, of late there's been all these Backfocus and Frontfocus stuff complaints since last year with the 10D and 300D, so don't your breathe waiting for the next technically non-pro dSLR to be perfect in 99.9% of it. :bsmilie:

Just go to www.nikon.com.sg website, click contact us, and then LOCATION MAP for detailed instructions on how to get there.

its around the leng kee area......guess I will have to pop by there one of these days.....cause the BF thing is really bothering me....

Actually, if you're worried about them taking apart the camera, you shouldn't be. Basically, they just remove the bottom cover and plug some kind of cable to a port located on the bottom of the camera and do the test there (read this from one of the DPReview posts in the D70 forum).

oh...ok....you mean they actually calibrate thru software.....?

other than the BF issue wat other issue(s) did u all encounter along the way wif D70? wat abt the colour issue..? coz i've heard its colour contrast is inferior to S2 Pro..

any takers on that?? :dunno:

Dude, we meet up to discuss photography, test equipment, help fellow Nikonians in making purchases & drink coffee/chocolate/snapple/tea only.

We're not repairmen nor Nikon technicians. ;p

Haha,eat and chat chat.. :bsmilie:
No la, I dont expect u guys to be repair technicians, but more on speaking as a CS council to Nikon Customer Service (CS) to provide a service in town. Anyway, this is just an opinion, might not be necessary...just take a taxi to the Repair and bill to Nikon Service center:bsmilie:
Ya, maybe can eat chocolate with u guys one day :bsmilie:

Nah... nothing to worry with Nikon's Service centre, has been there twice to do some check up & cleaning, quite ok and fast, nothing to worries, they're not some ah beng/seng/lian shops that you must put one leg on the chair lean forward and talk that kind :bsmilie:

Don't need us to accompany or go on your behalf :bsmilie:
