When you state that you are a newbie, people have a better idea of what kind of help you need, that is you are still struggling with the basic. So they can zoom in to the problem quickly and give advises accordingly.
Your argument are just your assumptions. You assume that others will not point out mistakes of newbie, which I don't think is true.

Newbie or not, my point is.. do you even need to state that you're a newbie? Lookie, if he didn't state he was a newbie, I'm sure people would have taken him to the task of not providing "high standard" photography. I'm sure more people here would bring out comments about how his photos are lacking, rather than excusing his mistakes for the fact that he's a newbie.
If people forgive your newbie mistakes and not point them out, you'll forever remain your "newbie" standard. Once you get some hard wacking, I'm sure you'll be trying hard to avoid such mistakes again.
All right, at least you start to do some homework now, next time b4 you talk big like you did, at least do a last minute search, so that you can justify your ego better.

Anyway, spoon feeding time.. I don't read books much nowadays :embrass: coz never pay my library fine. Here are some resources for you..
....
1. Whether the standard is rapidly sliding here, and whether it is caused by "well done" comments, is your own opinion, don't treat it as a statement of fact.
2. I really don't understand why you said that I am the sort to blame everyone else but myself. I dont know where that comes from.. :dunno:
3. What I can see from the pics you posted, only point to the fact that your standard are at best on par with those "100,000 pictures" posted in this forum, and not above them. I think you should be the one who think hard whether you are the sort to blame everyone else but yourself. Sorry for not mincing my words. But you may have to check your ego.
4. Since you are against asking for forgiveness, I dont know why you state that you are new
to using strobes, have not gone for any formal courses/lessons on studio lighting at all, no money to attend formal photography lessons etc etc.. Seems like you act against your theory.
5. In my humble opinions, we should indeed face the truth. But whether we should delibrately use our own interpretation of "truth" to hurt others, is totally another matter.
Define truth.

JSNG => i believe it's more of a matter of generally rapidly sliding standards of photo in CS that is gathering "well done" comments that's causing others to make such comments. I can see you're the sort to blame everyone else but yourself. Read my take on the newbie stuff above. Skin deep or not, it's to your own perception. I'm just stating facts, though in a harsh way. Truth hurts, no?
