i tried to find from shops about a year ago can't find.... i only know easiest way is to buy from ebayHi All CS members,
anyone have info where to get the canon hotshoe cover?
anyone got spare, sell to me??
I thought there is micro switch build in and the on board flash will get deactivated if a flash or the hot shoe cover is inserted?even if its plastic they also read it as there's flash mounted?
isn't that a switch that was triggered only when the metal contact from the flash head touches the camera's hotshoe? or did i get my facts wrongly? coz i know my friend shoots nikon have the hotshoe cover on and the built-in flash still fires when needed. or is it just canon? or the hotshoe/cover design?I thought there is micro switch build in and the on board flash will get deactivated if a flash or the hot shoe cover is inserted?
I am not totally sure but if you take a look HERE under Custom Hot Shoe Cover (CHSC) section, you will see the mentioning of hot shoes that are design for a specific Canon model (although these are not EOS cameras but S5 IS and G7/G9 prosumer cameras) to ensure the hot shoe cover does not activate the micro switch to disable build in camera flash.isn't that a switch that was triggered only when the metal contact from the flash head touches the camera's hotshoe? or did i get my facts wrongly? coz i know my friend shoots nikon have the hotshoe cover on and the built-in flash still fires when needed. or is it just canon? or the hotshoe/cover design?
yup, and I don't think Canon made hot shoe covers for their EOS cameras. The genuine Canon one that I have is from my old Canon AE-1/A-1 film camera which has the word Canon on it.haa.. ya.... I just went to google a min ago and was about to post this

they also mentioned about the special design, so have to buy exclusively hot shoe for canon

Yup, that's where I got the info from. I used to own S5 IS and is familiar with this online store.
