come on lah. even the most expensive and usable lenses are like 1+k, which is cheap relative to the cost of other CCAs. why dun i see school funded equipment on the run? or too many bodies chasing too little lenses?
In SAJC, photog is seen as a service society only. Its not seen as a CCA that will be winning lots of SYF Golds unlike say the Military Band or Dance. Hence the management sees the "returns" not as great, so why put in so much financial investment. Though, I have heard rumours that some JC's dark rooms are so well stocked that they can't keep up track with the equipment loans:bigeyes:. We are on a need to buy basis, all big ticket purchases have to be requested for and a ready fund of only S$200 +/- is avaliable for stuff like batteries, CD-Rs, and other disposables.
AJC, has a nice photog. 3 departments if I remember correctly from their annual photog seminar that I attended in 2006. Studio, photoshop and dark room (old fashion dark room with chemicals)
Let me share another experience of SAJC photog. When SAJC moved from its Malan Road Campus to potong pasir, the members who did the moving in, though it was going to be much better, (the old darkroom in Malan Road was actually a biology lab storeroom squashed in between the bio labs and the bio prep room. When the moved in, they saw a nice plaque on the door that said DARK ROOM. Whee nice! Open the door, and then fumbled for the light switch... Erm, theres no light switch, and theres no light. A literal dark room.:sweatsm: The contractors apprently thought it was supposed to be a DARK room and hence didn't put in a light. So the members had to operate from an old table lamp, for 3 months before they put in a light all the while avoiding dripping water leaking from the toilet upstairs.
One more thing, A levels starts in end October and should end by mid-November, for the standard H2 papers. Not sure for the H3 papers though. So those who are planning outing etc can take this into account.
