i shoot a bit of everything but mainly sports with my current dslr setup...
will head out and have a look around for a cheap rangefinder this weekend i think...

Remember not sell off your dSLR, rangefinders maximum focal length is only 135mm, and focusing in high speed action is hard (not impossible).

Visit the B&S page and check out used camera shops (tad a bit pricier).

Just watched all 6 episodes of the documentary and I can see why you're into this Leica hype.
Almost all the photographers (modern ones of course) uses a Leica. Be it a LTM (Leica Thread Mount) or the modern M mount.
And large format is pretty!

cheers for the info buddy

very interesting article...
reminds me of how i started off with my old yashica slr... completely manual.. teaches you all the fundementals of shooting since you only really get like one shot at everything haha

thanks for the info buddy...
um the series was called the genius of photography originally on national geographic channel, but i have the episodes on my computer...
basically goes through the history of photography from degarro types all the way to the modern dslr... and the leica is a big part as it was used for a long time to cover things like wars and stuff...

anyway..
back on topic..
what about a minolta hi matic f? i've seen a few around quite cheap...
dont really want to spend much money on a rangefinder for me... just more of a toy to play with at this stage... but never know maybe in the future could be a proud owner of a m8 :D

I would recommand the Canon QL17, excellent camera to start with into entry level RF.

Try it out for a year getting use to the RF system. On a standard sunny day in Singapore, technically the RF can be focusing faster than DSLR easily by using depth of field.

Am not really a fan of the M8 though, perfer films, M7 would be my choice should I have the $$$

Can give the Minolta CL a try if you wanna fork out more $$

sorry to gravedig a thread...

but yeh little update im getting myself a canonet 28 pretty soon.. any tips for this camera?

cheers..
