Very good to know that everyone shares the same view in our industry and are willing to collaborate to improve the way our trade and profession are viewed.

although almost half of the time I've been trying to figure out what you guys are talkin about due to my knowledge of broadcast/corporate productions - or lack of, I really felt just being around the conversations helped me picked up afew new words, techniques and ideas.
If anyone of you wants to have a copy of Countdown DVD I can mail it to you free.

somehow i got the impression here that nothing came out of it, except networking to know more friends...
first off, I think its ridiculous to call 'ourselves' motion pictures group, since SG doesn't really have a 'motion picture industry' . I mean who are we kidding here... How many of us really deals with S 35mm, wait S16 or even standard 16mm film cams on a daily basis ?
I'm sure the WEVA in US already has more people that makes whole lots of better stuff on their 2/3" EFP/ENG cams than many of us with 1/3" handycams.
start a union and get people really working in this line, then we can slowly build something like a SAG/DGA/ASC union to control and make rules to separate the pros and price them differently from hobbyist.
(p.s. : I did not mention that pros ultimately do better work than amatuers, but pros just do it for a living and amateurs might do better, if not as well, only that they have an alternate day job. We sg-rians use the term 'pros' inter-changeably with good work. which shouldn't be the case.)

I seconded Sam - Yup we should meet up more. Anyway, KeyserSoze, I guess that was only the first meeting and as icebreaker - I think its ok to network around for these few intitial meetings before we start the serious stuff.
