Well, when you consider that the 1D mk3 has a 1.3 crop factor(28.7*19.1mm), while the G9 has a approx 4.8 crop factor(8.9*28mm)...

The pixel density in the 1D mk3 is far less than the pixel density in G9... thus people might draw the conclusion that it's possible to cram more pixels onto the 1.3 crop sensor, or conversely, the G9 has too many megapixels.

Does anyone miss the lens of the older G series... I much rather have those lenses on the current "bodies"...

2.0-2.5 lenses would pwn anything on the market today! (is it remotely possible to hack a G1/2 lens onto a G9 body?)

I wonder why canon moved away from the older lenses... Other than reducing competition to their lower end dSLRs...

I'm thinking of getting it from Amazon, plus the Canon LA-DC58H Conversion Lens Adapter, the most I pay US$530 = S$797. Which is much cheaper than G7 selling locally. Planning to ship to USAvpost, cheaper that way.

Canon (S) sux big time! Damn slow. Marketing Dept sleeping. :thumbsd:

I am about to place the order...but then I am thinking of having another camera--Pentax K10D. The GP edition is damn cool. Now I in dilemma...although they are in different court....but still...hmm....hard to decide on one. :dunno:

I was in HK for last 2 days. Saw G9 offers @ HK$4180 with 2GB SD Card in both Wing Shing & Broadway. Broadway offering with 2X 2GB Cards.

Very tempted to purchase one but held back because of no International Warranty. After conversion, it will cost about S$850+. Better to purchase in Singapore if it is offered @ S$900 not forgetting to add the 7% GST and with local warranty.

It's good bargain if you receive a good set. I'm septical for mail order for electronic products especially from overseas.

I guess the quote does not include freight charge. It would be costly if include freight charge with 6 month warranty. This is my humble opinion.

Is it a good price? I really not sure. Anyway, I left 24 hours to consider, my friend coming from HK on Monday, if I want, he will just help me to get it. But again, since getting from HK, I might also considering getting a grey set instead. Believe it will be much more cheaper. :bsmilie:

I check canon S5 from USA site, cheap can get at S$579, but + shipping + 7%, will
be same as local.
