You should be comparing by sensor physical size.
For instance, if both cameras have a sensor of the same physical size, but one has a higher resolution, the one with the higher resolution should have a higher noise level, assuming comparison is done at same exposure, ISO, with the same image processor (DIG!C III etc.).

i guess the sensor size in the G7 and G9 are the same right ?

if that's so then i'll not upgrade to G9 .
cause upgrading from G6 to G7 already give me too much noise, and i can;t take it if the G9 will produced even more noise

ya, how come Canon does want to include a 28mm lens on their advance compacts.. other than the Sxx series, which probably has been discontinued..
It's their strategy to make you spend more on the accessories eg. lens adapter + wide angle = more $$$.:sweat:
Its better to pay more for wide angle camera than having to add on more accessories as this mean more things to carry.

Precisely or I'd have used my DSLR system (if I wanted Raw as it's better sensor to yield better Raw results).
Agreed as most others already equipped with at least a 28mm afew even begins at 24mm ok!

what is the advantages beside larger LCD and RAW supporT ?
cause i'm a begginner and i don't need RAW , but bigger LCD is a welcome bonus
anyone know how much the G9 cost in Singapore ?

and also will the 12.1 MP on G9 produce more "noise" compared to G7 ???
Personally i a little bit regret my move for G6 to G7 except that i really hate lens caps on G6 but G6 takes more beautifull and less noise picture especially at night compared to G7
and i don't want to regret again i iwer to upgrade to G9

If you don't want to use up your batt faster and RAW, then its not so much diff at all, maybe more noise instead=higher Mgpxl. Hence, careful thought is required for the 'move', bro

must remember to "switch/Menu' setting when each time=(to get optimal-results) :bigeyes:you're changing from or back to "Normal/other" shooting mode, when using any of the wide-angle-convertors, tele-convtr and Macro-convtr too+time-taken for changing/re-setting menu=miss some shots/opportunities too:sweat: Only may upgrade if at least from 24mm wide:bigeyes

Not only that, wide angle adapters are not good for image quality ....
Yeah, heard that too. Imagine you keep hearig "G pah", "G pah" in some Taiwan camera shops.....LOL :bsmilie: Canon really takes care of the local market.

I ask the salesman at the Canon counter about the availability of G9, and he says that the G series cameras is discontinued as not many people prefer the DSLR to the G series.
Does he just say that so that I buy a DSLR or Canon Singapore will not be bringing in the G9?
