My price is not a good deal. I get it from courts singapore. My wife and i love this camera so much and i don't have much time to go around checking for the price.
I paid total $899 incl 1+2 year warranty. I think my price is the worst deal among all the forumer here. Hehe..
But i still happy with my purchased. Especially when i read the feedback and review from here.
I think i still won't regret to get a nice camera at this price...
At least now i can take some good photo of my precious son and daughter.
And hopefully i can enhance my skill of photography through this camera too...
Let's rock and roll together all the G9 user here!!!
Cheers..;);)

Guys, need some explanation here..
1. What is the polarizer filter/cpl filter mean?
2. How many type of filter in this market now?
3. What is filter for ? (Is it for protection of our lens?)
I am new to all this filter stuff and not sure what is all these for..:dunno::dunno:
what filter i should get for my G9?
I will appreciated if someone willing to give me some link to let me know more about this filter things.
thanks in advance..

I got an e-quote from MS Color today.
$745 w/o GST; on cash-terms only. Comes with free 4GB card. That will be $797.15 (w/GST).
Wonder if it will be better at the shop... anyone has experience?

Cathay (P) quoted me $830 over the phone; I was too turned off to enquire further. But probably you get a better deal at the shop.

Wondering if the G10 will be out in Aug-Sep with Photokina 2008. :dunno:

i think u can get all info from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_filter
;)

so far, I got one UV filter for my G9 for dust protection ~~ plan to get a CPL in future, bcoz can't resist to take the Dark Blue Sky photo !!

question:
how does "auto ISO" on the hard-dial button works? :embrass:

"Auto ISO" only active in Auto, P, Tv, Av mode.
The camera will set the optimal ISO speed according to the light level when shooting.
In dark places, the ISO speed will automatically be raise in order to have faster shutter to reduce the camera shake.
The photo taken will be distorted if taken with higher ISO >400. I won't recommend shooting with ISO>400.

I think the original one (plastic made) is out of stock here. I bought one 3rd party made (metal) ard $35 in MS, but w/o the kind of "thread" look as Canon and Lensmate shown below.
I m planning to get a good one from US lensmate. I will open up a Mass Order to all who's interested and we can all share the shipping cost ~~ ;)

A review from the owner who post the above photos in other taiwan website:
A Comparison between Canon & Lensmate adapter:
1) Outlook: Canon is better bcoz of the "Thread" feel.
2) Material: Lensmate is better bcoz of the metal feel compare to Canon plastic made.
3) Fitting: Lensmate is overall better fit to camera compare to Canon with a bit loose.

Sorry for my poor translation :embrass:

How's about the CPL filter? What brand should i go for? Hoya?
Too noob in all this thing.. "=.=

Ok here is what I know as a newbie and after I went around Singapore to hunt.

I got an emolux adaptor for $35, a UV filter for protection for $20 and a no name cover $5 all from John3:16 (Total $60). The emolux is also metal, but it has no thread. But I much prefer the smooth barrel as the thread is a little industrial for me.

Over the weekend I happen to be at vivo city and went to canon link. The have the original plastic canon adapter for $39. The wide angle lens is $199. I cant remember what the telephoto costs.

All prices above in SG dollars. Hope this info helps the newbies as I could not get any straight answers in this forum and had to go do my own research.

Thx for this useful information..;)

What should we get for the cpl? No time to hunt around what brand available in this market..
Any brand will do?

Based on my experience with dSLRs, Hoya is good enough (especially for a prosumer quality image); there is Tokina which I believe is the cheaper range from the same Hoya factory. If you decide to pamper your G9 and yourself, the B+W is one of the higher range. There is something higher but I can't remember the brand off-hand. B+W is easier to clean and more dust and stain resistant. I used Hoya on my usual primes and B+W on my L lenses.
