G10 or G11 or S90?

Actually size is not reali an issue as my current D cam is already quite compact but i wanna get a cam that can take better photos. SLR is too bulky & abit out of my budget. My concern is more on the photo effects, resolution etc.
Does that mean that G11 & S90 takes abt same quality? I understand tt G11 has more manual functions than S90.
As at now, im more keen on G11 cos it has the rotating screen & viewfinder but i check the prices, G11 is $899 (abit more can get beginner SLR?), S90 is $749.
A difference of $150, not sure if G11 is worth the difference & im newbie too, total confusion rgd all the specs etc. Hahahhaha...;p

I got my G10 for $765, I'm sure you can get the G11 for better price then the $899 you mention, just go to the correct place alright.

Even though the S90 is wide at F2, there will still be motion blur when indoors.
Both G11 and S90 have weak flashes, but G11 can use hotshoe flash.

True, that the G11's hotshoe can be considered an advantage over the S90's lack of one, but in reality, how many ppl would be willing to lug around a bulky flash thats bigger than the G11 body? :dunno:

Hi, the G11 pixel was reduced to give it better noise level at higher ISO, the G11 lens has more distortion then the S90 lens, the G11 has better ergonomics than the S90, ISO dial and compensation dial easy to use, G11 has a better grip, G11 has a viewfinder, i will choose the G11 over the S90 for it's ergonomics.

I'm using G10 and I like the big megapixel, it allows me to crop my pics and I won't loose too much. The only thing I don't like is the distortion on the 28mm focal length.

I think they are both using the same sensor.
I think if you really want to classify, G11 would be a advanced compact for people with DSLR due to the manual control, while S90 would be a advanced compact for people upgrading from consumer PnS.

Buy at some of the listed 'trusted' shop, you can get better prices than best denki and likes. Of course, you can always get e-quote 1st.

Perhaps i may share my experience when i went on vacation.
I found carrying a DSLR way to much of a burden.
I found that carrying a compact would actually result in my taking more pictures.

However whereas a compact like S90 would do well in the day, in the evening or indoors it would stuggle to take sharp photos.
And for me there is nothing worse than blurr pics.

So the G11 would be an excellent compromise.
When i am out in the day i just carry a G11.
At night i will carry a 430EX II as well.

With this i optimise the weight i carry and at the same time still get sharp shots.

G11 with 430EX II flash is quite a bit better than the S90 at F2.

However that is hardly an apples to apples comparison.

I suppose most ladies will prefer S90 as it is small and sleek.

However i got the G11 for my GF so as to interest her in photography.
Ended up she went for some photography courses and now she has both a 50D and a G11 ;p

Depends on ur budget, for sleek is S90. But for more fun & exploring wo minding the size will be G11....can update us the prices u check? Haha tks.

I just got a s90 for 591 inclusive of gst. It's worth the money. I am using canon 1000d n I find s90 suitable for a lady hand. G11 is a more manly camera. I would choose g11 for comfort grip vs s90.

I do see ladies putting dslr inside their bags

just got the s90 frm slr revo. last set. g11 everywhr in funan no stock except for those shops sellin at rtp. can say slr revo offers the best price among all shops thr

Totally agree with you on this... I'll just lug my who system out if i ever needed a flash that powerful...

with ISO800 which is semi usable... and a F2 aperture... i think that would suffice in most night outs...

Anyways... adorama is selling the S90 for like USD399.99... which is like 570 based on credit card rates...

I'm waiting for mine to reach my door... quickly....

I own a 450D and a S90. The S90 is small and can put into my pocket. I dont need the hotshoe for external flash of the bulkier G11 bcoz if i want to use an external flash, better use my 450D
