Depending on the speed your subject is moving too.

Because room lighting isn't that fantastic, using too high speed will result in underexposed images.

You want you can try to use flash, but i dunno if it will startle the hamsters anot.

With flash i guess you can go up to 1/200 in shutter speed. I'm not really sure about FZ28's highest shutter speed for flash.

I don't even know what speed is to too fast or just right. 1st time using a camera that allows me to set the speed. Before that i only use compact point and shoot cameras.
Can tell me a range of speed i should use if I'm taking pictures of hamsters inside a room? Really need some advises here.

Hmmm... maybe you can try taking a few pics first, and post them here? That will give the guys a better idea on how to help. I'm sure they can provide you with some good pointers.

P.S.

And hi Nevlem... hope you aren't abused by too many push ups... :P

Love the silhouette shot of the cranes Skyguy. And the macros of course.

Vibrant shots Clunk. Enjoying your A330 yah...

Omre, the girl ain't too happy... hahahaha. Your composition is great. Hope I'll be able to do that with moving subjects.

Hi Wabbit, yeah, enjoying the a330 very much, just not enough time to get out with it. Tonight was the closing of the Royal Darwin Show, it closed with a firework display. I find fireworks interesting because it is so frantic to get in as many shots as possible and you don't have any time to fiddle and fuss about before it is all over.

nice shot of firework clunk

well, nice pic ombre... seem like a perfect skin

anyway, just got back from my 6day camp... and i survive it with FZ18 and 2 battery as a photographer... so the moral of the story, u will really need 2 battery at least, in order to go for camp photography... 3 to play safe... will post some pic if i get to see any nice one

Hehe thanks, though I thought the skin color abit funny... I used selective color and didn't know where to stop.

Anyway, you can also try converting to DSLR ^^. The semi-pro models battery will last you 1200+ shots each. Any nice ones to post anyway? :)

FZ should be able to take up to 1/500 for flash speed, I remember testing that on skyguy's came.

Yea I agree that flash may startle the hamsters, try using continuous lighting instead, put a table lamp nearby. =)

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will try to play with this new toy some more & get to understand it. :) Before I get any 'viewable' picture, i better not post them.

Ooooooooo... finally... let me have a look see...

is it really so hard to go beyond 1/2.33"...

Hmmm... I'm fine with zoom 18x, for further increment in zoom will introduce more CA issues.

As for the sensor size, still the same. Plus the introduction of more pixels, not good news for pixel peepers. But pixel peeping for prosumer cameras? Errhhh... you get the gist.

They definitely tweaked the processor's performance for enhanced resolution, and noise reduction.

To increase sensor size will mean development in new, and bigger lenses. All these will lead to bigger, heavier, and more expensive cameras.

Cosmetic wise, the hotshoe and swivel LCD display are still missing. Physically, camera is still the same. Again.. cost factor.

Improvements on processor, AF and IS.

The swing vote is the HD video capability with improvements in audio. Wouldn't mind having it, but not a determining factor for me.

All in all, it is an upgrade from FZ28, with pre-order prices at US$399 from Amazon.

I'll hang on to my dearest FZ28 for a long while. DSLR maybe a more logical progression for myself... maybe...

You win some, you lose some.... It is all good for now.

Hmmm.... no signs of post-purchase depression... or is there... am I in self-denial.... no no no... muahahhahaha.... :P

Dear Seniors and Gurus, Just bought a FZ28 over the weekend from Funan. :vhappy: But don't know if it is too ex at $649 c/w original case + 8Gb + cleaning kit. I was disappointed that there is no UV filter. (should I get one to protect the lens??:dunno: )

Anyway, previously was just a compact point and shoot user and decided to "upgrade". I know that there is a learning curve for me and by reading the forum, I have gained some information. Thanks.

I will spend more time to figure out the functions and control and shoot to practice. One question though (apologise if I sound stupid): If I select some custom form of AP/shutter combination that should not, will it spoil the camera?

i think 649 is neither cheap nor exp... which shop?

South Asia Computer at Funan. Forgot to add. One year warranty niah.

I found that for my fz28, whenever i try to use slightly higher speed indoors, the pictures taken are always complete dark. And the thing is, the lcd looks only slightly dark but after pushing the shutter, the picture capture is not what I saw. Was it my camera lcd settings?
