ok guys would appriciate if you guys can advise...
How to prevent a optical slave flash from trigger by other flashes? using a cheapo Sunblitz optical slave.

Hey speedknight, you're asking a difficult task of the flash. NOT to do what it was mainly programmed to do. =/

Well you can try to block the sensor from other flashlights except yours, or switch it off while not using?

wow... at my time, parent are not even allowed into the camp... not bad, quite a cooling hair cut

Yeah, Melvan's older brother said it was very different in his time with NS. I think now it is quite a PR exercise to convince parents that your children are being well taken care of, seeing as there has been some unfortunate incidents in the recent past. Parents and family were allowed to watch the distribution and checking of all their kit, had a tour of their accommodation, the gym and were even given a typical lunch in canteen. Quite an impressive morning I must say.

hi guys, i'm back and fully energize after some rest from the tree top walk... haha... here is my verdict about tat place... if u think walking towards marina barrage was bad... this was worst...lol the best part is after walking so much, u only get to walk like 300m for the tree top view, and the rest is hiking again...going up once and u won't wish to go up again... but becoz while walking towards the tree top view, we have to walk through this jungle trail, which have alot of chance of micro shot, insect, insect and more insect... too bad i forgot to bring out my raynox... damn... the progess of the hike will be slower due to all the micro shooting... will post some shot when i am done with the picture...

Well, no comments on the rest... I guess its good to do a little exhibition for the parents, almost necessary... and I hope i don't get into any legal trouble for saying this... but the lunch given to parents are so different from the ones we got. I revolted lunch daily when I was in NS (so do most of my peers), but when there are visitors... like woot, everyone's flocking to the cookhouse.

Nice shots skyguy! What did you use for lighting? looks very controlled. I think you can just stick to your FZ18 already. =X

haha thanks... i just use my flash with my diy diffuser... work pretty well for micro... actually took about 6shots for each insect, each shot at different flash power... so i took out the better one to show...

Very nice shots Mr. Skyguy, sounds like it was a long hard trek.
My time here is nearly finished again, sigh, all too quick. Heading home tomorrow. It has been an eventful trip, got a couple of outings in, bought a new DSLR (still coming to grips with it), saw Melvan off to NS, had a couple of fishing trips with Vinze, but most importantly went with my step-son and his lovely wife for her ultra-sound and found out she is having a boy!! I won the bet also.
I got a dry cabinet and hope I can get it back to Oz without damage.
Wandered around Bugis today, took a few shots.

Oh I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again...

All packed and ready to go, thanks again Ombre, Skyguy, Vinze and Navlem will catch you again on my next visit or if you decide to come to Darwin you will have a place to stay.

Cheers everyone.;)

I seem to be a little slow in uploading.. but this was the candid from the day we went to butterfly trail.

This seemingly innocent girl turns furiously mad at me for pointing my camera at her.

The colors are a little odd I admit. Also there seems to be a blue "aura" around her yet it does not appear to be CA, at least it looks somewhat too thick and a little too odd to be.

anyway, just got back from my 6day camp... and i survive it with FZ18 and 2 battery as a photographer... so the moral of the story, u will really need 2 battery at least, in order to go for camp photography... 3 to play safe... will post some pic if i get to see any nice one

Hi. I've just got my fz28 and am still not very sure how to use it.

When taking picture of pets, and they move very fast. What kind of settings should I use? The mode, the speed, etc.

As for mode, depends on individuals. But you will want your shutter speed to be fast to capture fast moving subjects.

Try taking pets outdoors under sunny conditions, you'll find it much more easier.

Hi Melvan, how is NS? How are you coping? Your Mum has been thinking of you. I am sure she will want to chat.
I am out tonight , going to take some shots of fireworks.

I don't even know what speed is to too fast or just right. 1st time using a camera that allows me to set the speed. Before that i only use compact point and shoot cameras.
Can tell me a range of speed i should use if I'm taking pictures of hamsters inside a room? Really need some advises here.
