FZ7 Launch???

relax people... from the specs of the 2 cam's i find that both are similar... only now that the FZ7 is more equal to S3 because the the problems they solved withe Fz5..manual focus, 640px movie mode, 30 sec max shutter....

Still, Fz7 is 2.8-3.3 whilst S3 is 2.7-3.5... no TIFF for S3 though...

Just call Alan Photo they said will be ready 2 weeks later, when I call 2 weeks ago they also mention another 2 weeks, seem like to 2 weeks never come :sweat:

Correct me if my memory fails but with the exception of the FX series, panasonic usually release its new batch of models every Sep/Oct . I remembered the FZ10-20-30 were all released one year apart.

I'm tempted to just get the FZ5. CP is offering at $610 (w/o GST), but with 2X512 SD card.

either fz5 or fz7 will do, both are good cam :thumbsup: . the only few things that i think are useful on fz7 and not fz5 is the ability to manual focus and max shutter speed of 60s instead of 8s. bigger screen is a plus but not so important to me. 1 extra MP doesn't prove anything to me as well. For movie lover maybe fz7 will be a better bet but for those who only shoot photo can do with fz5(save $ to buy accessories).

If the S3 is as bulky as the S2, I think I can safely say we can let it go.
The only real advantage the canon S2 had over the FZ7 was the VGA movie mode. The flip LCD appealed to some but for me its a distraction and another moving part to fail.
The FZ5 was a beauty and from the pictures, the FZ7 is even more sleek. The S2 , IMHO, looks to toy-like. Looking at the pubicity pictures for the S3, it does look like a big improvement with its black colour but only time will tell..

i am becoming more impatient now. was at suntec yesterday and am now seriously considering Nikon D50 or Dynax 5D.

you'd probably saved enough money to get a D50 by the time the FZ7 comes out :bsmilie: for me i ain't bothering upgrading since i myself don't have the funds for me, not worth it for me since i can use the money to get a DSLR instead. l0l.

Hmmmm.... Just got news from CP, either later this week or by next week!

In any case, hope they will price it reasonably and not go for the kill since it is a new model.

of cos it looks noisy... it is taken at iso800, if im not wrong fz7 noise will be worse (If they din do so much processing till it became watercolored). but overrall i think fz7 still got a slight edge over h2 for its OIS.
