Its very likely that this guy sold a fault lens to me (see details and proofs below), to avoid such things happen to other careless buyers, I have to disclose the seller's info:

id: isaiahlim
email: isaiah.forest.1990@gmail.com
moble: 96451177

His theory is that if the buyer did not find the problem, then the seller is totally innocent.

I found the lens has problem just after I took the lens to home. Its partially my fault that I did not check carefully when dealing since I am a new user of dslr. The seller did not agree that I return the lens and did not accept the fact of the lens fault. When I try to negotiate with him using sms, email, and pm, he response very very slow, and even no response to my pm.

Lens problem: when using AF, must turn the focusing ring to one side, then it can focus well. if the focusing ring is turned to the other side, it will not focus. seems like a mechanical problem.

the only proof he gave me to show the lens is ok before he sold it to me is a pic he took. but without AF anyone can take that pic with MF.

Now I found the reason of the problem from internet. Its due to a broken flexible cable. And I have taken out the broken cable, its totally broken.

some pics as proof, exactly the same situation, so no need to take pic myself:
http://club.pchome.net/thread_2_121_4962508.html

btw: the lens has been taken apart before I bought from him. The screws has scratches and there is a tick written on the motor module by a mark pen.

To isaiahlim:

Do you want to blame me again that I do not know how to use dslr? Do you still want to blame me that I say something bad on you? Don't you accept that the above is truth? If I say anything beyond truth, just reply to point out. I do not want to receive your email, sms or pm again.

Can you explain how to brake the flexible cable in one or even less than one day from outside the lens?

Over.

if what the TS is said true, then the seller must do the only right and honourable thing - that is to offer an apologies for selling a defective item.

lesson learnt, check throughly b4 paying...

not just to any buyer, even at shop...

after u pay ur money, it is hard to get it back...

it is gone...

disagree. Seller has to have integrity too.

unfortunately its another topic that we will argue until the next Comex show.

there will be 2 camps ,

1) it's you responsibility to check
2) its the buyer's responsibility to bare all and tell all

I am with the second camp, but it's precisely because of such examples that I stay away from second hand purchase....the hassle is just not worth it....but is just me.:dunno:

by rite, it should be (2), but u can't ensure that, can't u?

but u can ensure (1), so to safeguard ur purchase, one have to check right?

no point not checking and crying over spoil milk... am i rite?

disagree too, do u rather risk ur money for the seller integrity? :dunno:

for me, i will not :nono:

wat i meant is that, the seller should not try to pass defective goods as working ones.

that is all..of cos buyer have to check. But seller integrity is impt too.

if not it will be a waste of everyone's time.

Maybe I mistook yr post as implying that it is ok for seller to pass off his broken stuff as working ones..and if the buyer was conned, too bad for the buyer as it is his due diligence to check. (Which I think is necessary too, just to drive my point home)

yes yes, that is what i am trying to say...

of course it is the seller fault to con ppl, no doubt abt that

i just wan to point out that we should check properly to prevent being conned

and dun give those bad seller a chance to con ppl ;)

I couldn't find the seller nick isaiahlim in CS member list :dunno:

I am with Camp 2 , but if that cannot be assured then I stay away. One have to understand it is not either 1 or 2, you can have a third choice and walk away. I am a newbie, I do not know how to check, then how?...better dont buy to prevent spilling any milk.

It is precisely such easy going attitudes of buyers that we have such irresponsible sellers.

Sellers here, not just in Clubsnap but in other forums also, have things way too easy.

"if you want to buy, meet me at MY convenience"
"If you want to buy, you check and take full responsibility"

One thing is that buying second hand lens, dont buy from sellers you dont know. Buy only from reputable used equipment shops such as TCW... When buy from Clubsnap, always request personal warranty (3 days, 1 week...etc) since sometimes we cant test on site. Actual test can be done at home then when faults are found, the seller can take back the lens and return you the money.

This time period is to ensure both buyer have enough time to try the lens out and the seller wont spend the money away after you done deal. Thus always request. If the item you are buying is in good working conditions, sellers will be confident the item works after you buy, then he guaranteed the personal warranty. If he sellers appears to be grumbling, and say this and that about the item without offering personal warranty, then my advise is dont take the item.

However, this personal warranty thing sometimes dont work. It all up to the person you are dealing and by case by case basis. Always check for faults around the glass and edges for traces of tampering. I think you learnt a lesson.

See if you can get a refund after this thread of yours. Otherwise, treat it as a lesson and move on to better things to buy :)

Good luck

Obviously, you have not read about horror story from the other side.

"if you want to buy, meet me at MY convenience"
If you consistently being "fly areoplane" or "fly kite" by the potential buyers, you will understand why a lot of sellers put up this clause. It is to prevent too much time wasting when the buyer did not show up.

"If you want to buy, you check and take full responsibility"
There were also buyers taking advantage of the personal warranty by removing parts and replacing them with faulty ones and claim the item is faulty after a couple of days. Sometimes the buyer might have dropped the lens without any physical damage but have internal damage and then ask for refund.

Net, net, it is not as simple as what you have indicated. When you look at both sides of the picture, you will understand why people do certain things.

Not try to argue but just want to share my experience and others with you.

I agree with everything you have mentioned actually, and that really just adds on to the list of reasons why I am not very keen in buying second hand stuff.

anyway wat i can is unavoidable in forum, treat it as a lesson learnt.. upz for you to let the seller knows...
