Hi Fellow,

long time no post liao. Finally burn a hole in my pocket and purchased Extreme III 2 GB card for wedding shoot. It is incredible fast on my 7D, hope I do not run into CF card writing bottlenecks for wedding table to table.

some crude results to share. write speed (time of red led during writing) for 1 RAW+JPG
1 GB CF Power Silicon (Given as part of freebies for purchase of 7D) - 12.5 secs
1 GB CF Sandisk Ultra - 10 secs
2 GB CF Sandisk Extreme III - 2.5 secs

*firmware 1.10

incredible.

Just to add, my 2GB Lexar 80x clocks in at 2.7s for a RAW+JPEG.

That's pretty interesting UY79... your Lexar is substantially cheaper than the Extreme III... but I think also must test on the same file otherwise differences in the photo composition affects the file size and hence transfer timing.

how u guys time? using which watch?

from 'feel' the Extreme III got a 'feelable' difference from the Lexar 80x...

the extreme III is slightly faster than the lexar 80x, don't think its worth to change to extreme III for lexar 80x users.

I think the writing speed only applicable when you shoot RAW+jpeg or RAW...

If you shoot jpeg, it won't matter that much if you use 40x or 80x Lexar really...

I would rather save more money buying 40x lexar card then spending more on latest card...

Yes, RAW is better, but jpeg is good enough.

My timing according to dyxum's method is 30 seconds for 9 RAWs. Which is 3.3 seconds per RAW.

Edit: My mistake for stating 10 RAWs earlier.

So, that's about in-line with Dyxum data?
