FX01 Review

Think this is currently the best camera in its class/price range. The wide angle makes a lot of difference. Noise is the big downside to this camera but I suspect most people don't blow up huge prints from a P&S. In any case, nothing Noise Ninja can't fix. Unlike most, I found the flash to be adequate for most situations. But don't be misled by the ISO1600. It is only applicable in a certain special setting.

Reason to get this over LX-1? Price and portability. This camera also features 16:9, 4:3, 3:2 ratio like the LX-1 but this is a 6mp camera and LX-1 is 8mp.

Buy from B&H or Alan Photo for lowest price. :)

599 incl of GST rite?

Just got FX01 today. I'll be posting sample images soon to share how's the image quality is like.;)

below are some test shots taken with FX01. no post processing is done. only resize.
images are a bit on the cool side for my preference. noise is significant. image is not very clean even at ISO80(lowest)

T.T time for me to change CRT liaoz. I don't see any noise in the posted 5R sized images..
#4 which was taken at ISO125... you tell me taken by dSLR I'll also believe.. :( So who else also need to change monitor with me?

Anyway I'm wondering if the bluecast/cool image is caused by the overcast sky.. Possible. seems like the effect of no UV filter on film.. keke..

Hey the image quality's very nice! :)

The noise was observed before i resize. after i resized, it seems better;) maybe i should post a fullsize crop at the noise area?

One feature i love is it can allow u to fine tune WB.

I think better take photos rather than worry about such things :)

 precisely.
Why worry about noise which can't be seen by 99% of the people who are going to see your photo?

you also forgot to mention its the photographer and not the camera

The photos taken by LX-1 in another thread is much nicer than these photos taken by FX-01. These photos seems soft.

Just wanna check, Can the shutter speed be adjusted in this camera? Looking at the pictures, they're on the dark side.. which is  ....

Besides the wide angle 28mm, are there any other better features comparing to the Canon 800 IS? Heard the noise is bad after ISO100 for the LX01. Anyone got some sample posts to share here?

Anyone did a comparison between the Canon and Panasonic? Can share your opinion? Thanks!!!

i have some sample shoots with the FX01 here. Some of the images are full size image. The rest are resized.

Battery life is very good! approx 300-350shots per charge

your cat avatar looks very nice
Do you have a bigger pic of that :D

Hi copycat.. Thanks for sharing...

I read from dpreview that at ISO200-400 and more, the images are very noisy in low light. Is that true?

Does the FX01 have histogram?

And I'm alwyas curious.. What does the heart shape icon in the selector mean? :bsmilie:

yup..u are right. anything above ISO200 is too noisy for my preference.
Yes, FX01 has histogram both in the play and record mode. the heart shape mode is simple mode whereby the camera will take care of most settings(i.e something like auto mode)

How much is it?

Is it selling in Spore already?

around $600 if i'm not wrong with memory card and case.

How's this compared to the Ricoh R4 ? The r4's 28-200 lens will probably be quite handy as a travel camera. But it has smaller aperture, at f3.3 @ 28mm. Anyone has a r4 to compare ?
