Not too long ago, a few D2H owners were telling us that 4mp is all that they need. Can even blow up to A3 and such..

Then why is there talk abt the need for 8mp now? :dunno:

Beats me. Wasn't what I was suggesting.

Beats me too.

The price of D2H in Japan has dropped to 273000 yen at Sanpou. That's SG$4196 based on the exchange rate from XE.com. When the D2X is released, the price of D2H can only go down.
In my opinion, the release of the D2X means many of us advanced amateurs who don't make money from our photos will have the D2H within reach. I'm waiting for that day and I think it is coming soon.

Wow...very imaginative! In Singapore...even Alan Photo and likes are still selling at $5250 w/gst.

I think very very hard... :nono: Good try!!

Woot, price drop drop drop! ;)

It's a matter of time for price to propagate to Singapore, but meanwhile, they will sell as per RRP/DRRP.

Dunno about D2H, but I dont mind getting the D1x

What is the future for D2H?

What is the future for any specific digital camera?

I love the LBCAST actually. If I were to be given an 8MP CMOS made by Sony...I may not want it...just fix up the noise processing with a firmware tweak and I am happy to use it as a 4MP. Lower sized files, fast write times...better and faster work flows. Why not?

Yeah... what if the sensor offers you better detail resolution and better noise control? I'm just wondering what you trying to achieve in this thread? :dunno:

Keep the D2H, wait for any upcoming upgrade, then also get the D2X lor, so you'll have a happy family of D2. :p :p :p

Actually the CMOS chip in the D2X seems to be a Nikon and Sony joint design/development and manufactured by Sony. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a number of sensor design teams within Nikon (an LBCAST group, a CMOS group, a CCD group etc - both DX and FF), and Nikon decided to go with a CMOS sensor for the D2X for reasons they haven't yet revealed.

I am hoping that the individual CMOS reading channels for each colour in the D2X will reduce the amount of noise given that it is a high megapixel camera in a smaller sensor than the 1Ds.

There is nothing wrong with the D2H, the arrival of newer or better speced counterparts aren't gonna change the fact that it is a good camera nor will they prevent you from taking great photographs with it.

On a professional standpoint, it had and will still serve as my workhorse because it delivers print-quality results at a very manageable file size and no, I don't think the 4MP files it produces is too low.

Shoot more and don't be bothered about what will "obselete" your setup, great pictures don't come from newer cameras, they are produced by great photographers. :)

Exactly, your pictures are undistupable evidence that D2H is very capable camera that can produce pro level results in the right hands
