Full frame or A55?

Sorry away for few days after posting.
I will mainly use for general purpose travel/landscapes, family gatherings and some portraits.
Budget is not a concern. Thanks a lot for your inputs. How about 850 with CZ 24-70 for above purpose OR it is good to buy A55 with CZ 24-70?

I'd go for the A850 + CZ24-70 for the kind of photography you intend to use for. At 24mm on a FF it's really wide. Made a mistake once renting a CZ 24mm F2.0 on a A850 as I need to move closer to frame out many stuff out of the picture. Should have used a 35mm instead.

I'd go for the A55 + CZ16-80 for the video function and also the lens have a useful zoom range (24-120mm equiv on FF).

Comparing my A700 vs A850 IQ wise, definitely 24MP FF sensor resolution wins hands down against the 12MP crop sensor.

both bodies have their pros n cons
850
Pros:
FF sensor
Pro lay out for essential controls like ISO WB on the tap (no need to fiddle with some menu on the LCD)
Rugged construction
High resolution 24MP good for large prints
Cons:
More x
Heavy
Drive rate a bit low 3.7fps

55
Pros:
Light weight
High fps
Noise performance is even better than the 850
cons:
EVF instead of the normal OVF (takes some getting used to)
Lack of on the tap controls

** if you intend to pair either body with the 2470CZ you may find it head heavy with the 55 whereas 850 feels just right

*** if you use for travelling the 850 +2470 weights quite abit almost 2kgs of dead weight .....quite tiring especially if you do alot of free and easy type travel as you need to lug around all the stuff..guided ones still ok

FULL FRAME, those "video toys" can wait.

Get both la. A850 for your wide lens, A55 for your tele. Confirmed win win situation. :D

So rich!! no wonder everything is out of this world pricing!!!!!!

Neither ! ;) ...wait for A77 and get A55 pricing and weight (almost) as well as A850 24mp resolution !

Haha u kenna poisoned, once you go ff, you don't go back. =P

To the TS: when I saw that you intend to travel - one of the things I'd like to ask you about: is how much muscle is in that arm of yours - it can be quite tiring to lug the larger A850 with a 24-70CZ when the A55 + 16-80CZ is a lighter combination. The A55 + 24-70CZ will feel unbalanced in this respect. You'd find that the A55 to be very convenient, especially if you have been using compact cameras and live view a lot, the A55 could be the camera for you.

You shouldn't miss the extra megapixels, especially when it's good to know that a decent 4R photo can be printed made from something that is 0.54 megapixel in size and you'd find yourself pushing the ISO numbers a little higher more frequently than you'd like to do with the A850 because the A55 is cleaner in higher sensitivities. Do carry a couple more extra batteries if you are using the A55 though - these things go flat rather quickly.

Go for FF. I'm a proud owner of A850 and I never look back....

Sony FF not that ex in the first place. Furthermore, it's like you see what you get. I can't resize my photo n upload. Cause I no use flash, took the man in the KTM station coffee shop, looks like you was still there. I will find s/w to resize and upload/update this thread. Sometime, you will be "rewarded" of the $ which you invested. :D
