You mean the ISO performance is comparable to the D700?
Judging from the x100 with the APS-C doing better than the same sensor size of Nikon and Canon. Still have to include the EXR into the mix (x10 EXR OOC output is better than some APS-C cameras as well IMHO), then it is not far fetched to that it will match or even better than D700 traditional bayer filter pattern.
And also if we are talking about Prime versus prime, the fact that the sensor is nearer to the lens itself will also help in bettering the IQ.
As for the pricing at 1590 Euros, do remember their tax is way higher than in Singapore. So don't be so hasty in saying one will not buy. Value proposition is of course in the domain of oneself value judgement but looking at the x100 and x10 quality thus far, I think the value it presents is way better than some of the new Nikon offering in recent months.
So what is fair? Wait for the actual output versus D300s D700 7D and 5D to make a more informed conclusion vis a vis price of the system in general.
Me? There's somethings missing in the XPRO1 that I am of the opinion shouldn't be missing in the first place. Too bad commercial decision for the XPRO1 is hampered by the existence of the x100. Is a pity really and a bad business call IMHO. SO I will be waiting because of
a) I already have the x100 which is doing fantastic
b) There is no 23mm Equivalent. It will come when the x100 is at the tail end of the product life cycle.
c) By then, a usable zoom will be around. Usable means F2.8. F4 in the product map lineup to me is not good enough.
d) A mini flash ala x100s. I won't use a lot of flash for street photography so the hotshoe is not exactly something I am looking for but a small flash will be a good insurance for times when I need a fill up.
From my above criteria, perhaps I will be waiting for the XPRO2
