he's a terrorist...i dont think can consider him human

Steady fellows ... this one is fuji camera forum and we are talking about the 100 vs R1 lens quality ... let's not go off topic.

My bad to suggest that the poster was for locating Mas. Where ever he may be, hope that he is safe and not injured or ill.

Peace to all. :D

Here is another comparison between Fuji Finepix 100FS and Sony Cybershot R1.

Are these at 100%? Same focal length and aperture? White balance very different.

Yes, they are at 100%.... However, for some reason this website does not show it as such. :dunno: Same focal length of course. And yes, 100FS appears neutral.

Hi all,

Any one know the price in singapore now ? i want to buy S100FS within this few day...

thx

photobum, did you use filter on both cam? the reflection of bus is present in r1 but not 100. if not, then it seems that the 100 lens coating is so good to cut reflection? wow ... ;p

alamak

the bus can move la.. never cut reflection, just to the left of your bus, there is a refelction of another vehicle which is present in both

Well, the Resistance Forces against the Japanese/German during WWII were also considered Terrorists in the view of the rulers.

So are the freedom fighters in all the oppressed regimes in the current world.

Sending planes, tanks, troops etc. to attack Iraq is actually much much terror than the 911 attack on World Trade Centre in New York.

The world is never black and white.

Read world history, read the rise and fall of the great powers in history, read Israel history etc. etc. and as widely as possible, your horizon will widen significantly.

Are these at 100%? Same focal length and aperture? White balance very different.

Actual focal length can never be the same for the same composition for these 2 cameras where one has a 2/3" sensor size and the other is APS-C size sensor.

2/3" sensor has a crop factor of nearly 4x while the APS-C size is about 1.5-1.6x.

Furthermore, the aspect ratio is different : 4/3 vs 3/2.

Even if we ignore the aspect ratio, the actual focal length used in the Sony R-1 should be about 4/1.6 = 2.5x longer than the one used in the S100FS.

As can be seen from the EXIF in the pictures, the actual focal length for the Sony R-1 picture was 62mm and it's only 27.9mm for the S100FS.

27.9 x 2.5 = about 70mm.

So the S100FS picture should be similar to a Sony R-1 picture taken at 70mm actual focal length and therefore appears to be slightly "nearer" than the R-1 picture shown (note the tree appears nearer to the left frame edge in the S100FS picture than in the Sony R-1 picture).

It would be interesting to see a 100% crop (i.e. without any resizing down) of the notice in the coffee shop in 2 earlier original pictures and compare them.

The Sony R-1 has the advantage of a longer actual focal length used on a 2.5x2.5 =6.25x larger image sensor (which in combination, produces a larger actual image on the sensor) while the S100FS has a much higher pixel density (S100FS's 11MP cramped onto the 2/3" sensor vs Sony R-1's 10MP on an image sensor which is 2.5x2.5 = 6.25x larger).

Personally, I think more details can be seen on the 100% crop from the Sony R-1 picture since, for small distant objects, the limitation is in the lens (actual focal length) + sensor size and not pixel density.

(ps. it's a fallacy in many cases that more pixels give more leeway to crop. If you shoot two identical pictures from the same spot with 2 similar cameras except for pixel count and not more details have been captured due to the limitation of the lens + sensor size, you're not going to get anything more with more pixels and your leeway to crop is actually the same.)
