Fujifilm Outings, Photowalks , Promotions, Pre-orders

My take: X-T20 priced too low. Look at the flagship model of another mirrorless model recently launched for comparison , $2899 body alone or another one at $9950 which isn't a flagship mode (cries)

Second time by Fuji?

It seems that the first time promotion was a better deal. It came with 2 lenses.

yeap. Last one was in 2015 I remember and SG side sold out all the X-Pro1 allotments. This time its due to some dealers/consumers asking and by now available sets should be sold out.

hi bros, I agree with u up to an certain extent.

However to be fair, Fujifilm SG's pricing policies is often not in their own control and demanded upon by HQ in Tokyo. I had too expected a <$2k pricing but well, the USD came in and here we now have $2099. It is also good to understand the product placement (the X100F is a top-end model in Fujifilm's hierarchy and the only one other the X-Pro to have a hybrid OVF/EVF system).

ck2201 is right in that the X100T is going to be a popular alternative which I agree is a perfectly sound comment. Sometimes we have to look at our own needs / budget before deciding to gun for the most expensive model for starters. I've friends still using the X100 (Gen1) for example.

On the other hand, those who are sure of their choice and demands won't feel much forking out the price for a X100F.

Hmm just a comment about the pricing policy ... irregardless of who sets the price be it Donald Trump or Fuji Japan. It doesn't change the fact price in SG is over priced (and bundled with "over priced" accessories)... many have feedbacked .. including myself .. now that Fuji has gain popularity from photographer's support .. it now turn its back away ... of course whether to buy or not we made the decision ... but what many have done is voicing their opinion ... I hope these are heard by Fuji ...

This is just a feedback maybe should start a petition to Fuji lol. Anyway They have the right to set whatever price they want ....as long as there are supporters they will survive ...

BTW some Canada shops are running promotions ... xt2 xpro2 .can be had at huge discount from sg price ..especially if you can claim tax and use credit card discount.

2899 u talking abt oly em1 mark2? .. it is quite an advancement ....shoot hand help for 10 sec and photo is still sharp. After I saw the review on clubsnap I immediately took out my Fuji and my only stabilized lense 18-55 and 10-24 to try .... I guess we all know what the result will be .... 1 sec photo is hardly sharp.

Also not to mention the DxO score of the sensor isn't far behind from 1.5 crop sensors ...

Also the sensor shift technology that allows u to do a super high resolution landscape.

Olympus did come a long way and the ehancement over the previous version is huge.. thought 2899 is still expensive but it is an impressive camera ... it it is cheaper by say 400 .. I think it will be great.

I have been supporter for Olympus and have used their cameras in the past ... sensor is the main reason why I choose Fuji ....

First time I heard of HQ dictating pricing without local feedback...

I think they don't have sufficient critical mass to pay for maintaining showroom and servicing operation, hence the pricing premium to cover overhead. This may be self-defeating in growing customer base and maintaining loyalty; making it even more challenging to grow revenue.

Sometimes, gifts can make up for higher pricing over other markets if they're useful - but looking at what's on offer these days makes me wonder about their marketing manager's understanding customers.

Hmm, bro, it's a 'you think' coming to reasons for the pricing.

I think in all to put things in a nutshell, it's their job to ensure consumers feel their worth in investing in a brand, irregardless of the pricing, and they have to work it out.

Every brand have their own culture and of course , issues and strengths.

Were you there for the GFX launch on Fri at Suntec ? To me, someone who have been to many launches from various brands , the relationship between present users were already valuable in itself.

And in this respect coming to value, every brand can do better.

Question: Why are Fujifilm prices in the US always so much cheaper than in Sg?
Eg XT20 (body) is USD899 at amazon now. With the conversion rate now, it's only about $1257. That's a whopping $200+ difference.

Can I know whether the US set bought from Amazon will be covered by Singapore Fuji's warranty ?

Thanks

Hi , short answer is no. Amazon, B&H etc sets from US are not covered by international warranty.

Unless Fujifilm actually shares their marketing strategy with you, you're also speculating like the rest of us. Product launch attendance alone does not necessarily translate into sales...did you noticed some of the recent deadlines for pre-order being extended?

I did say that one reason is due to Tokyo's influence in setting local prices. You can just scroll up to read that. For that of course I did try to explain and wasn't speculating but it's up to anyone to take it or not.

Our nation's policy of imposing 7% GST already ensure that the starting point for pricing is diff.

Of course launch attendance do not necessarily translate into sales, that's common sense but that's besides the point here & I was trying to say that despite a higher price point , they are trying to make up for it in other areas to give customers value - which of course I'm not speculating in saying that some customers do want nothing more than the cheapest possible price , in which then overseas markets is always the key and available. No one in this current world is locked to a geographical area for purchase and it's an advantage to customers like u and me.

The topic was a higher pricing in local sets over foreign sets, and u guessed it's maybe because they 'don't have sufficient critical mass to pay for maintaining showroom and servicing operation ...' (i am just copying what u wrote) - this can be speculation.

Hmm just one more feed back or thoughts ... I don't quite agree with Fuji pricing of graphite edition which is usually 500 more the regular edition with no functional difference. Only other camera company that does this is Leica thought at a inch bigger premium.
