Fujifilm F200EXR is a GEM

May I know what's SP mode?

In order to maintain its sheer compactness, F200EXR doesn't has a powerful flash good enough for backlight and fill-in most sunny conditions. I carries a Bower SFD328 slave flash to solve backlight, fill-in and shooting large poorly lighted area.

Don't be misled by the hotshoes that big brands are trying to impose a premium luring you on their pricey P&S. Recent technologies of any USD30-USD50 slave flash can do the same job, firing at every detection of the built-in flash. Set to forced Flash at correct ISO, any GN28-33 slave flash can provide the kind of flash power that we once were jealous of with DSLR.

SP mode... on the camera's dial... i guess is SPecial mode?... its just several pre-set modes for lazy folks like me... so i dont need to mess with the P mode much.

Hi Bros,

Can I ask? What good is the macro mode?

It seems I can focus at 5cm, at the wide end of this camera, without activating the macro mode. This is in P mode, and NOT EXR auto. In EXR auto mode, the flower symbol pops up when i focus on a close object. However, in P mode, I can focus at the minimum focusing distance of 5cm without any indication of the camera switching to macro mode. Its pretty handy for me, but I'm just curious.

TIA! :)

Anyone knows?

Hi all,

I'm a newbie in photography. Lost my f31d on a cab recently and I'm intending to get a new PnS camera.

I'm looking for a camera with some manual settings available and can also shoot relatively good quality images with auto settings.

Saw the trade-in promotion for F200 and F70. Very tempted to get one of these. Any recommendations or advices?

what recommendation or advice do you want since you've already shortlisted 2 models? go down to the shops and have a hands on yourself to get a feel

as I have said earlier on... I've short listed 2 models and as I do not have much knowledge on photography, I need to know if it's a good camera to purchase and recommendations might include models from other brands i.e. Nikon...

Hi ,

Can I know how to connect the slave flash to the camera ?

Hi Leo,

The current most talked about PnS are :

1) F200EXR - 399 (after trade-in) - has Av (F3.3 & 9 only) and EXR (Wider Dynamic Range)
2) Sony WX1 - 499 (after trade-in) - has Pano and Handheld Twilight for low light shooting
3) Canon S90 - 749 (estimated) - has F2.0 and RAW - more aperture options for Av mode.

All 3 are good for low light and image quality.
Choose depending on which features are more useful to your needs.

For the Fuji trade-in (any PnS film or digital, any condition - has lucky draw for universal studio tickets - check Fujifilm website promotions)

Advised to go the Funan (South Asia) - has more freebies 2x8Gb, 1 Extra 3rd party batt 950 mAh, mini tripod, etc.
At Sim Lim (Song's Bro) - only freebies are 1x8Gb, camera case and screen protector.

Go down to the shops to check and verify what are quoted for freebies.
Hope that it helps.

thanks Roger! you've been a great help!

will check it out at South Asia... :)

Any idea where can I find out which are the participating outlets?

Hi ,

Can I know how to connect the slave flash to the camera ?

No connection needed - that's the beauty. Bower SFD328 has one of the most sensitive flash detector that trigger itself at any impulse increase in light intensity eg flash. There is a mounting bracket to hold the camera and the flash on its side. It still works fine holding the camera with right hand and the flash with left hand pointing at the subject. It automatically controls the flash intensity from 1m-10m distance. But I set to Auto ISO200 to prevent going any higher ISO to avoid over exposure. More comments at:

My colleague called Alan Photo, and they quoted SGD355 without trade-in. Not sure about the freebies.

good price war. I was at Alan Photo on 30/1. Asked about the price of F200EXR and was quoted $360 cash without trade-in. The package comes with the standard free gift. I said Song Bros quoted $369 cash with an extra SD card and additional battery.

They keep punching the calculator frantically for the next 5 minutes, and even got the boss to come around. After all that frantic calculation, the boss said it's impossible.

They even rang up Song Bros to confirm the price. In the end, they said sorry, we really like to match or beat the price but we can't and suggested that I buy from Song Bros.

Bought mine from the sellers advertised in Amazon (refer to link in previous post). Only get from shops with international shipping eg Saini.

to me, 350-360 kind of price is very good for a PNS with such good quality sensor.

can buy for pocket street shoot... of cos cannot compare to LX3 in terms of specs but hey.. it is only 360, discounted from 550+ one year ago
