Fuji X10, so pretty!

Very tempted to get one but not convinced by the premium price now.. The Nikon J1 with 2 kit lenses seems like a better deal when compared to the $900 price-tag now.

Have been using one since last week. Best compact camera to date for me. I also have the canon S95 which i still hold in high regards.

imho, this is better than nikons offering. (of course if you are buying the nikon to use your existing nikon lenses / the many frames per second "moving" pic , then of course no need to compare - I have tried out the J1 and v1 as well)

Why ? When buying this type of camera, one looks for convenience and having fun taking pics, and not image quality rivaling a full fledged dslr.
If I want superb image quality / to change lenses in the field, I will use my big dslr, since i got to bring out so much gear anyway.

Best plus points : F2.0 to F2.8 through the useful 4x zoom range. It has fast AF and is responsive. Easy to access controls.
You turn the barrel to zoom (handles very well), much better than using a lever or button which is slow and limits you to
steps only.
REally "feels" like a mini dslr, while the other compacts don't give me this "shiok" feeling.

Bonus: Built in fill flash, hotshoe and clear viewfinder all in one small package. (which is the clearest I have seen in cameras this size even
up to entry level dslrs) go try one and see for youself. I was amazed. Even has a larger range of dioptre adjustment !
I don't have to wear my specs to see clearly in the viewfinder !

Biggest downside for me: no AF point/confirmation info shown in the viewfinder, and also only 85% coverage only.

Is it a good camera for 90% of your non professional needs ? I think so.
Will there be a better one coming in the next few months ? There always will be...

Just wanted to share my opinion, everyone of course has their own.

I bought 1 at SLR Rev. at $7 each with 1 year warranty. Brand "REVO", FNP-50, 3800mAh.
Not bad at that price with warranty.

Thanks for the info. :) Will check it out next week.

Users who like to install a filter for protection. Can use a 39mm filter with a rubber band. Not those common rubber band. Use those for ladies to tie thier hair. Just fixed the band on the filter thread, and screw on to lens.

From technical point of view this could damage the thread

It will not caused any damage to the lens thread, bcoz the filter/lens don't spins. Unless the X10 is make of soft material. The rubber hair band is quite thin and soft.

Most compacts now can zoom in and out during movie while maintaing AF without any jitter.
Can this be achieved in X10?

Yes, smooth zoom in/out. but some focusing noise is recorded.

KL selling at $800 international warranty set, tempted to buy!

Where can I go to try out this camera? Does Fuji have a showroom or something?

A few more days will be Sitex at Singapore Expo. U can sure see and play there

I went to a shop last weekend at Panesustra plaza, they have 1 fujifilm x10 left, quoted at SG999, they want me to pay first before can test that camera, end up I didn't buy it.

Is that happen to u before, paid first before u can test, and that is the only 1 left they got. What if the camera...not function?

Are you referring to the shop at Peninsular Plaza facing Funan Centre/Excelsior Hotel? There is one X10 in their glass display and their shop signboard is Fujifilm. The uncle's service is abit undesirable.. I just asked how much is the cam and he asked if I am buying. I said I am considering and he said bye to me.

most of the shops don't allow to test X10 now since they don't have extra piece to showcase.....
