I doubt they will have lens hood in stock. It is even hard to find in other countries. Ebay do have a 3rd party one but it does not come in two pieces (i.e. filter adapter + hood).

Btw, anyone interested in this (3rd party thumb-up)? Available on Ebay, USD45. Was hoping that we can get about 5-10 ppl interested and do a MO for some discounts. More info about this accessory can be found here.

The thumb grip adds stress to the flash holder. I think not good for the camera in a long run.

The hotshot? Nah ... I think it is fine. We don't hold the camera by the thumb grip. Only minimal stress on it. Worry not.

the only thing i want from this lens hood is the adapter, but that can actually be replaced by step up ring. was still thinking whether i should get a 40-52 step up ring.

check the camera setting? there's one about power safe mode (or power management), and another option for you to adjust the brightness.

Which mode are you in? Manual mode?

If you are in Aperture Priority mode, the camera will compensate with slower shutter speed/and or higher ISO if you set a smaller aperture, so your LCD screen will never go dim.
