saw the same problem on mobile01 also. a lot of ppl complaining.

The black one is leather but I don't think this brown one is (just maybe coz I saw the condition of one used by my friend ... after few times the strap and edges seem to look crappy already). The brown one should be just like the 'premium case' for the X100 if I am not wrong. The black leather case comes in a box that looks like the one for the X10.

Yes, the case is geniune leather. I have feel and touched it myself.

Oh ok. I got confused as the brown one is packaged as premium case & comes in different packaging.

not sure if it is me, basically the provided PRC-made screen protector suck.... had big trouble pasting the film...tear off tab1 slowly while apply on the cleaned surface, then once done, tab2 simply is too sticky and left residue and lifted the film off, causing creases/dust/air bubbles beneath the surface.

Anyone knows where to get quality protectors, eg Japan's etsumi film products?

wow. that sucks. you can try remove tab2 first. wash the protective film with tap water. the dust will be rinsed off. you can try re-apply again. it works for me every time.

nvm la, already creased liao, even use water wash the crease will still be there. I remember I had the etsumi brand and it was really good.... comes in a pack of 2... long shelf life.....used one piece....after 5 years i removed the one from my old DSLR and peels off cleanly, applied a new one and it still is as good as new.

get the generic one from daiso or camera shop lor. 2.7" i think.

Buying a compact camera which is not so compact at 1k...:dunno: what the hell is Fuji thinking? Add another $250 can get X100....

For similar or lower price, can get GF3, EPL3, G3, NexC3, J1....

The size of the X100 and X10 is just nice. Not small, not really that big. The cameras you mentioned is not really compact with the lens attached. The Pentax Q is small. But with lens, its not compact too.
If really wants compactness. Then, have to take a good looks on S100, or others card size DC.
An embedded OVF is very important to a camera. At least for me. Only Pana G3 has an embedded VF, but it is an EVF.
Its quite hard to compare camera, and it value. All has it + and -. It depends on what you are looking for.

gx gx! how much are they selling?

fixed leh at $999. they say price is controlled.
free memory card + screen protector + leather case..

the free brown leather strap that came with the leather case feel damn cheap... the cutting like anyhow cut one.. the black one from the camera box is alot times better.

think Fujifilm knows we will still buy it even the price is high. xian.

i agree. now using the black one. looking for a good case for it now. :)

apparently the original hood and filter assembly is needed to fit a 52mm filter, but from fujixseries forums, they said the original attachment would partially obscure the optical viewfinder.... so a better-but-not-the-best solution is to buy a 40.5mm filter and screw directly only the front lens element as shown in Marumi filter and Fujifilm X10 with Marumi 40.5mm filter ... downside being the stock lens cap will not be capped snugly onto the lens barrel, making it easier to misplace the cap...

some ppl said the best fit is actually 40mm, which is hard to find. most 40.5mm will not fit properly, except some rare one like Marumi My Color series or B+W 40.5E series. the other alternative will be get a 40-52mm step up ring and attach a normal 52mm filter. still trying to find the best way to put a filter....

cos even if the set is dust-free, thru repeated use, dust will be sucked into the lens and contaminate within. i can say 99.99% of the time one won't see it appearing in the pictures, as the focus is not on the dust but way far at the subject.
