Tks. So I just download d firmware for d lens. Mount d lens to d camera. Plug in d USB to both d camera n d comp. then?

Will d CD tat comes wif d package helps in any ways? Cheers.

1. Download the latest lens firmware from Fuji support page.
2. Copy the downloaded file into a blank SD card.
3. Turn on the camera by pressing down the disp/back key
4. Follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure your batt is fully charged.

The firmware upgrade should take 1 min.

Your X-E1 is on latest firmware but your XF lenses are not. Go Fuji website and download and install the latest lens firmware

When I power up my XE-1, I do not see the message "Upgrade the lens profile". I'm using XF 35. How should I verify the lens firmware?

Insert a blank formatted media in the camera. Turn on your "Camera" while holding down the [DISP/BACK] button. The number will displayed "CURRENT" showing the camera's current firmware version.

The Latest version should be 2.0 for lens

If it is the same as xpro1, you just have to:
1. Turn off your camera
2. Turn on your camera by pressing down the disp/back button
3. You will enter the firmware upgrade screen. You can see the firmware version for both camera and lens here.

Remember to put the downloaded firmware at the root folder in the SD card (the top level folder). Don't copy the firmware into any sub folders.

Haha I have seen a lot of forumers on DPreview and Fujix-forum having issues with firmware upgrades on their x camera so kinda know what to expect and what to advise.

Yes I'm in the IT industry.

Back focus with PDAF?

PDAF? X-pro1 using CDAF which by right more accurate with focusing but apparently my 5Dmk2 with PDAF is always spot on with EF35mm f1.4L

Bought my XE-1 and XF 35 on Mon. Check the firmware and is already on ver. 2

Did you set the focus point to centre or multi? If this is set to centre and still not sharp, then you might have a lens with back focus problem. Perhaps you could bring down to service centre for a quick diagnosis.

When I bought my X-Pro1 with the 35mm, 2 out of 3 of them had back focus issue, at infinity focus though and not macro.

To check this, just point your centre focusing mark at the far end object at a distance. Snap and check the image. It should be perfectly sharp at the far image. The 2 sets I tried at the shop could not produce sharp image at the far distance, so the shop allowed me to take the 3rd set back, which is perfectly calibrated.

I realised this issue for some of the 35mm lenses. Maybe due to firmware, but good to check and confirm. If it is a good set, you should get extremely sharp images at every shots, if you focus correctly and don't have shaky hands.

Try out the test using tripod to confirm.

from my own experience, the AF accuracy of the Fuji X IS a problem for me - always back focus, hardly spot on in macro.

All X-E1 already preloaded with the latest firmware out of the box, but XF lens firmware might not be the latest as the lens might be older batch.

I guess my XF 35 should be the latest batch with ver. 2 shown.

Latest batch of XF lenses should already be upgraded to firmware 2.0. I bought my XF18 about a week back n it's already on firmware 2.0 out of the box.
