Need advise on this camera:

-How much should I pay for it? 2ndhand but mint

-Is it worth buying/keeping? Cost of servicing

-The cost of film processing?

Thankss

I don't own this camera, but did quite alot of research on it and had a feel of it in Japan.

Indeed, it is one of the best fixed wide angle lens MF rangefinder camera. It seems that this camera is still commonly used by professionals in Japan to shoot landscape for calenders etc.

This is very rare in used cam shops in S'pore. The few I saw was really beat up. If you are serious about chosing Fuji MF rangefinders, Tokyo is the place to find them - quite readily available used and in good shape.

In my opinion: - build is rugged but not refined. Pretty heavy. No metering. Loud clunky shutter. Average rangefinder. Recommended service interval is like 1500 shots (I think).

Instead of buying this, I bought the Mamiya 7-II - more compact, interchangeable lens, soft shutter, build in metering, Auto exposure A mode available. However it's alot more expensive and seems less rugged.

Hey, in fact I'm quite interested in getting hold of a unit too i.e., if they are available locally ( i meant in S'pore ). Are you sure it require to be serviced at such a short interval of only after every 1500 shots? Any idea what's the price range locally?

I did some research. It is advised to service it after 5000shots lor.
There is a counter on the bottom of the camera.

The Mamiya7 II is tempting.....but it is 6x7 ...not 6x9 in GSW690III.

I HAVE owned this beautiful monster for quite a while and sold it to Parlin (do a search) for around S$1100+ excellent ++ condition.

The ECB Fujinon lens is great and the camera pretty easy to handle, light, easy on the hands, huge focussing patch and simple to load/unload.

The only negative (to me, maybe ur ok with it) is its size

Thanks Ed9119.

I saw one for sale at Sgd$1600++. At least now I know the market value for the cam.

I own one, and if u keep a look out on US's EBAY, they sometimes go for around 500 - 700 USD, mint.

the GSW as a camera: EXCELLENT!!!! cheaper than a mamiya, sharp photos, tough...

BUT...

do take note of its support.. as i'm not sure if anyone/fuji in singpaore supports it.

I personally think that the mamiya 7 and this cam cannot be compared... 2 diff cams, systems, and of course, prices.

Good luck

too heavy, image good.

need service (charge high) after number 200.

cheap than M7ii, BUT I prefer the M7II. M7II more convient and bring a lot of fun.
